The extremists on either side wont get it since they don't think they're extremists.

John Cleese doesn't like the hard left, but he said this 30 years ago. What rang true 30 years ago is just as true today.

In the video, he is aligning the Hard left with the communists and everything considered not good in the free world.

Unfortunately , no matter what one (ahem) believes or states , there can never be a centrist person.
There are those that pretend to be centrist while condemning all folks with competing views as "extremists" .

I should also say, he tweeted this the other day in relation to the protests going on showing them to be extremists

Either way, you win and everyone else loses.

Brilliant!

Thank you for that Smarties. You know there was a period in Cleese's life where he got mightily depressed. His compassion for life and other people were taxed to the extreme by the folly in this world and it took him down into existential despair for a bit. Can't say when but I recall watching an interview with him once he had managed to pull himself out of it. Somewhat anyway.

The video you presented ran on into the next video which was of Cleese giving the eulogy at Graham Chapman' funeral. That brought tears to my eyes in remembrance of the deeply critical aspect on civilized life that Python often presented, though presented in and most beautifully satirical manner I can recall.

No it didn't

It most certainly did.
