Like when they elect a reality TV star who pretends to be a conservative?

Oh look !

Another original comparative "what about when ________" classic cliché 😁

I know you can read.
Put your skill to use and read the OP .
This is not about Trump.
Liberals getting away from liberalism . (perhaps they have found their liberalism was only a temporary mental disorder)
Democrats leaving the party .
Not much left of the left...

*Gasp* I agree with Phage.

Trump was a long term Democrat until he switched to Republican to run for office.

Trump was a registered Democrat from August 2001 through September 2009.

link

In the 80-90's he was friends/buiness associates with Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton:

Despite this notoriety, the Reverend Jesse Jackson heaped tons of effusive praise upon Donald Trump at his 1998 Rainbow/Push Coalition Wall Street Project Conference in New York. There is simply no way to explain away Jackson’s high regard for Donald Trump, based on this video.

In a similar manner, the Reverend Al Sharpton cozied up to Trump quite a bit in the 1980s and beyond, according to a detailed expose in the National Review. They had mutual business dealings together that seemed to be based on each of their personal agendas. They each had something that the other wanted and needed and struck deals based on this set of mutual interests.

I detested trump the reality TV host.

Where I probably differ from Phage is I applaud Trump as president when he canceled the TPP, re-writing NAFTA and bringing manufacturing jobs back to the USA, finding that "magic wand" that Obama said could not be found. He took the economic upswing Obama began and took it to new heights. He's a loud mouth, obnoxious, braggadocios, narcissistic bully who keeps his foot in his mouth half the time — but still better than anything the Democrats are currently peddling. Biden vs Trump = 4 more years.

We are not technically "gay"

We are not technically "lesbian".

Yeah, we can not decide because we feel the gras is green on both sides of the fence. How terrible of us. We must be utterly disturbed persons.

There are a lot more bisexuals around than one would think. On couple contact pages, more than half of the couples, the women is bisexual, while only about ten percent have bisexual men. These numbers are from impression.

My father was very conservative in most topics and would be counted as republican in your country. He was also a free-mason
*cue violin style horror music*

Yet, when my half sister outed me at the kitchen table (and then in classroom next day), he burst out in rage because of her trying to degrade me as a person because of what I like. Then he went on about how disappointed he is, in her for thinking that this would be a problem for him.

Then he turned to me, said it is okay but none of his business. But she found her crowd in school next day, reciting my diary.

Around fifteen years later, I read a post of him dropping "the bomb" here. Today I understand his rage, that was really out of the norm for him.

If you don't fall in line to the absolute extreme of every leftist opinion then they don't want you. It's so bizarre. I feel like at this point the liberal media is the only thing holding the Democrat party together.

Oh don't worry, I'm sure an opinion piece from Huffington Post will be along shortly to tell us this isn't real and the hashtag is being driven by Russian bots, just like #walkaway.

The denial from the Left on how many people they're alienating is delicious to watch.

As a lesbian, I can attest to the fact that the LGBT community has become very hostile to anyone that doesn't conform to their ideas. Especially within their own group. If a lesbian says "I'm not attracted to trans people." they are immediately attacked and shunned by the community.

I've been accused of being a homophobic bigot by LGBT. I left that community more than 10 years ago because I saw where it was headed.

Typically, no. Sure, it could happen and probably has but not to the extent that it happens in the 'liberal' community.

I have a large extended family. It has been my experience that the conservatives within my family are far more accepting and welcoming. They may debate your positions on issues but are willing to agree to disagree. The liberals in my family are screeching, hate spewing harpies.

Is this an LGBT thing or something?

Sounds eerily similar to a scenario a good friend of mine found herself in.

I think its a lot bigger than just LGBT.

A lot of my very longterm ideology has gotten me the same treatment because I disagree with The Monolith. I always have held pretty much the same ideology (though it has matured), they have always known my thoughts, but now its a problem if I talk about it. Its been going that way in earnest for maybe 5-8 years now, but started earlier.

"Friends" getting vicious, family members ceasing communication, etc.. Essentially for just talking about and holding the same opinions as I always have.

Lots of "Liberals" and "Democrats" recently claiming they're switching away !!

I'm sure SOME are, but not MOST !

Never trust a Democrat for what they say. Instead WATCH what they DO 😆

That's the case for everyone, now that personal integrity and character are declining.

I guess this is what happens when you create a personal identity out of a political party based on ideals you believe you both share. The lesson is, basing your identity around anything other than things you personally do is stupid and anyone who does that deserves that moment where that thing they believe in that shapes who they are does something against their ideals and their whole faith in the universe and themselves is shattered.

It's at that point they can make a choice, do what most people do and run to the next thing they can conform to based on their frail, fickle sense of self and ideals and or learn to grow up and be a big boy or girl and learn to have a sense of identity based on their own personal merits, abilities and ideals and stop placing so much stock in whatever group that's supposed to represent them that day does or says.

Quoted for the most ignorant thing I've read all year, to date.

She didn't create a "personal identity" to conform to a "political party".

She already HAD a personal identity that she thought a certain political party identified WITH.

That's my point. She let her political party became part of her identity, it betrayed her like outside organizations always will.

No she actually wouldn't have if your supposition was correct. If she had done what you allege, she would have moved on with the party on whim.

No, more what I think is that people put the party in the place of spirituality. It becomes a cause similar to religion for a zealot, so it doesn't matter how crazy it gets.

In the manner of the LBGT+ Whatever Other Letters crowd, they demand that the group who defines their exceptionality through biological sexual preference (same sex) be lumped in with and fight for the demands of those who think biological sexual preference is akin to bigotry and phobia (transpeople and their movement). It creates insane cognitive dissonances.

And the LGBT + Whatever Other Letters crowd aren't the only places where we see those kinds of mental gymnastics at work.

So the only way to explain it is to make it a quasi-religious faith movement full of zealots the longer it goes on.

No, it isn't.

It's anywhere you fail to move on with the orthodoxy of what passes for left leaning thought.

Conservatives have been observing it from the sidelines for a long time with some alarm. Right now, our hope is that enough people wake up to it that we reach critical mass and shut it down before the real trouble starts.

And to be clear, it isn't so much leftist thought we want shut down as it is the current leftist tactic of simply silencing anyone who does not agree with the orthodoxy in allowed leftist thought, no matter what part of the thought spectrum they fall on.

You can say that for any political affiliation. Why does 8t need to be left leaning only?

I hear lots of stories about the LGBT movement being more exclusive instead of being inclusive like they seem to promote. Is that driven by politics? I don't really think so.

LGBTQxyz is almost like a cult, a religion. It treats us, who disagree with the main narrative like they treat non-LGBTQxyzs.

I am appalled by this out of own experiences. The goal is long lost, now it is about identity and provocation, not acceptance. They ruin everything for the majority, a majority that just want's to not be stigmatized and want to be left alone.

But no, the real mental unstable at the core attract more mental unstable and they push themselves to new heights of ignorance, discrimination and hatred. Those who stand in front of all this, pushing pushing pushing, became the monster they wanted to fight.

I was called a homophobic for answering the question if I would be able to have a relationship with a trans person with the clear words "no, I can not imagine that". They tried to argue about if I am bi, that I must hate trans because since I like both men and women, this should be the perfect deal for me.

WTF NO! That stupidity made me speechless and shocked. Screw those hypocrites.

My opinion it is a sort of "tit for tat" thing to some degree. They found strength in the group and instead of using it in a intelligent manner, they start to bully others and wallow in it.

I can still disagree with conservatives and right leaning people without worrying that they may find out who I work for and try to report me for being a bigot or racist for not thinking the same as them.

They haven't gone that far around around the bend yet, but right now it's all the rage on the left leaning side of the spectrum, so much so you see them eating their own for not apologizing enough, showing enough support for this latest outrage du jour.

The women's movement is a lot weaker on this because there are so many more women in the country I think, but you see similar shaming type moves calling conservative women all kinds of nasty names because we don't tend to embrace them quite the same way or for all the issues they would want us to.

Liberals, only vowed to be liberal to disguise their Actual Status as Progressive-Socialist-Communists...

they have crossed the Rubicon and no longer need the wishy-washy label of Liberal to operate behind

next off they might dispose of the terms Progressive which sounds like diplomatic jargon for Academia instead of just outright proclaiming they are no-holds-barred Anarchists ready to use the point of the guns they wish to deny others any use of...

I am mostly conservative and bi. Uh-oh.

Like traditional things and keep some old ways that you already mentioned.

integrity
honesty
exercising constructive criticism
accepting constructive criticism
honor in what you do
ability to change opinion without being a traitor
personal responsibility
it is a long list.

Where I live now, nobody knows my preferences and I will not rub it under their nose. It is none of their business. I just out myself here because of the topic.
