Yeah , I totally agree it might be bad hmmmk
Even the Pleiadians have a society very similar to what the Georgia guide stones picture and that makes me very leery of all of them... a reply to: E38Driver

Why bother exterminating us? Why wouldn't they just hire us to do their interstellar dirty work? We're not afraid of getting our primitive five-fingered hands dirty, and sometimes you need a little muscle to get things done.

For being too violent? Naw, that violence is where those sadistic #s get half their entertainment from us from.

Our society is very fear-based.
Everything is considered a threat and people are usually scared of all kinds of doomsday scenarios that only exist in their minds.
Maybe the aliens would try to influence us to evolve into less fearful and more peaceful beings.

As our information age begins, knowledge begins to expand rapidly

Tell me when that information age starts when true objective awareness increases and most information (99%) is not just "tobacco science" that is used to manipulate people.

Humanity have not even gotten past the power pyramid society state and decentralized power, resources, knowledge so that all parts become self sufficient.

We cannot even create a 1 to 1 quanta connection to another solar system and many physics are not interested in using entanglement since it is spooky from a materialist standpoint. Very slow progress the last 100 years.

As long as we do not leave this solar system we are contained in our bubble.

I wouldn't be surprised...if certain ET alien species have toyed with the idea of exterminating us --- Since we have the capability of sending nuclear tipped weapons into space, and we've already sent radioactive laden space probes into interstellar space --- How is that going to make them feel?

And they've already showed us visual, veiled threats....as in wantonly displaying their own weapon of mass destruction to us --- Such as a gigantic, electrified, fiery fusion plasma, spherical-shaped, shielded foo fighter --- That can obviously contain thousands of tons of fiery plasma, that can surely wreck havoc on any surface or air targets.

I know...because I have already visually witnessed a fiery balled foo fighter in 1976.

Considering we have eyes in the sky at all times fron across the globe, no matter how far we look, we see no other civilizations.

This doesn't mean they don't exist, just that they are really REALLY far away and I don't think they would come all this way to exterminate us.

There are a variety of factors to consider and no plan is full proof, this concept exist event to a hypothesize Alien civilization.

No. Not for being 'too' violent (question: are there levels of violence that the aliens would find acceptable?), but for being utterly stupid! For having the naturally-occurring gift of intelligence, and being wholly incapable of exercising it.

Take a look at today's modern world and at the way our species is conducting itself, at the way humanity is crumbling down into total ignorance, ripe for the cull by the narrow strata of people who actually use their intelligence, and who already know that 90% of the people in the world are defunct by their ignorance and sheep-like ways. You couldn't find a set of people whom to treat more contemptuously.

Our species has been violent throughout its history, and remains so to itself. Aliens has nothing whatsoever to do with our demise, we are our own. The sooner, the better.

who else recalls [ hopefully with more clarity ]

an episode of a show - akin to twilight zone // outer limits

the plot was - aliens came and threatened to exterminate us [ humanity ]

the punchline - they decided to kill us - because we were not violent enogh - and has [ to paraphrase " a small capacity for war "

so - YMMV

Like me...I think they would know that being violent is part of the evolution of an intelligent promising species..and is something universal. It is something we have to go through..everybody promising in the entire universe has to go through. The aliens themselves had to go through this stage of evolution. Like many other species before us we as a species would be considered a fail if we would exterminate ourselves with weapons of mass destruction.

The thing that worries me more is how we destroy other life forms because of our greed, stupidity and moron-ism. You can argue that this is also part of our progress towards a wonderful responsible and intelligent organism in this universe.

The difference however is that we will not destroy ourselves but the organisms around us. By doing so we take away the chance for any of those "innocent" organisms to evolve into a beautiful species the universe can be proud of. And that my friend is a legitimate reason for ET to wipe us from this planet as if we never existed.

Perhaps life in the universe is so precious and rare that aliens only want to encourage it, no matter how "evil" it may be, since good and evil are both subjective and if survival is the ultimate goal, it might be a really good way to survive.

Seeing we are on the verge of interstellar travel in the not too distant future,
If you mean sending tiny unarmed information gathering probes to the stars, yes we're on the verge of that, but I'm not sure if we're even on the verge of sending humans to other planets in our own solar system if you mean human travel. We're nowhere near being on the verge of sending humans to other stars.

the aliens decide that we are simply to barbaric and dangerous a species and decide to simply exterminate us rather than let us spread out into the galaxy. It actually wouldn't take a lot of effort, an engineered virus could do it, sent on a small automated probe. They could wipe us out by remote control from light years away.

Just a thought, maybe humans should learn to behave better. We don't know WHO may be watching us.
You're over-complicating things. All that would need to happen for the aliens to nearly wipe us out would be for them to do to us what the "alien to the Americas" European settlers did to the native population. They didn't even need to engineer a pathogen, they already had immunity to naturally occurring pathogens which the native Americans lacked and their population was decimated as a result.

So as Stephen Hawking said, listening for alien communication is fine, but we may want to think twice before sending out communications to aliens, because look at what happened to the native Americans when an alien population (from Europe) met up with them...it didn't work out very well for the native Americans. Similarly it may not work out so well for Earthlings if we meet the same fate with the ET aliens as the native Americans met with the European aliens.

Know exactly where you are coming from there. The advanced aliens might just exterminate us for NOT being violent enough. A bizarre opposite of the OP thread starter but all this peacenik, flowers in your hair, feminisation of society and our natural desire hopefully to make a world at peace with itself with an end to all wars and economic and environmental crimes might be the trigger point for the aliens to kill us all off for going soft.

I have always wondered what ordered the WATCHERS to watch. And if some have fallen what of those who remained in command or listened and still have not fallen or those who remain above the below?

I think a advanced Alien civilization if they were allowed to harm planetary civilizations without any responses or backlash from the universal community, would probably just use advanced ways to help humanity advance intelligently knowing they may be helping to develop a alliance with a defensive CREATOR Creation group.

I don't think they all think and problem solve like some humans.

It's like for human civilization issues like war, if wars are known to be seeded and grown in the underdeveloped poor areas of the planet that lack education, healthcare and updated infrastructures.

To stop the wars a alien approach would be update all underdeveloped areas and add new education equipment/technology, healthcare and better infrastructure and said war seeded areas will dissolve away eventually as those in those poor areas develop better problem solving and so approach the world more intelligently.
As opposed to "it's a dog eat dog world" Ignorantly...

Makes one think, knowing our radio and TV broadcasts are trudging across the galaxy at light speed. Think of all the cop, cowboy and war entertainments.

And alien movies

There is absolutely no reason and alien civilization would invade us for anything if you think about it rationally.

Any species capable of traveling here would definately be capable of terraforming something closer to home.

Resources?? comets have more water than most planets and its of finer quality without biological contamination.

Thats another thing, you would have to sterilize the entire planet because our most simplist bacteria that we consider harmless would kill something foreign to this planet in less than 1 or 2 days time....one a simple germ realized theres no immune system, it multipies exponentially. 1 become 2...2 become 4...4 become 8...etc

They cant eat us...its not possible our planets life structures (DNA,..etc) would be completely foreign to them...not to mention again our bacteria

The ONLY reason they would arrive in force to invade is Entertainment. They get pleasure from destroying other worlds.

A person in Utah doesn't get on a boat and hike thousands of miles into siberia to step on an Ant Hill. But he might come to observe

Have you read Alan Dean Foster's "The Damned" trilogy? That's basically what you are describing.

They would probably just quarantine our solar system and keep us from leaving it. After all, we would still make great study material and not to mention excellent breading grounds for experimentation. Why exterminate us when they could just subjugate us.

We won't reach interstellar travel or contact on earth if we keep using "fire" to travel up to space. UFOs/UAPs use a different form propulsion. Oil and energy companies cover up UFOs.

Aliens destroying us for our behavior won't happen. They could destroy us by merely showing up.
