I listen to it too Ketsuko. It is VERY clear that the protesters are continually conflated with the rioters.

Well "you" plural like to cherry-pick your examples. No one has stood in front of a burning buliding and called that action a peaceful protest. You know that.

Yes, I know that according to right-wing propaganda, racism no longer exists. It exists on the right and on the left. It's the constant denial by the right that fuels the constant exaggeration by the left. Extremes.

The instigators always push for violence, and quite often, despite what you and others "on the right" love to portray, most of those bottles get thrown after the cops start instigation themselves. It's on video after video.

All of us are racists. Blacks themselves are some of the worst racists. Shocked? In Black culture, lightness of skin makes you questionable. You think Joe got the "you ain't black" thing out of the thin air?

And yes, I'm aware of the apologists who claim that all the cultural crap about "killing whitey" is just a pressure valve for an oppressed people. Sometimes it is.

And sometimes it's good old primate xenophobia. And no, I'm not calling Blacks primates; HUMANS are primates. If there are three in a group, two will fight against the third. It's old as sin.

However, WE can change those instincts. WE don't have to act against folks of other races, sexes, genders, creeds, etc. We can understand and even feel those emotions that "the other is the enemy" but if we RECOGNIZE them rather than ignoring that they exist ... then we can do something about it ... or at least start to.

That's a lie.

No one on the right says racism doesn't exist. We know it does. We also know it's less of a problem than it's portrayed to be. We also know that it's not exclusive to whites, but exists between peoples of all races. The conference call between the Chicago Mayor and her aldermen was interesting in that it showed a flash of the racial tensions between blacks and Latinos that no one talks about but that does exist.

Not only was she dismissive of his concerns, but he alluded to the possibility of an open Latino/black gang war if the situation wasn't brought under control.

Oh well, one day, they'll massacre all of us and then discover that their lives are still crap and have to find a new boogeyman to blame for it.

I would pay good money to see these little white kids try this in south Chicago. I'm pretty sure the Latin Kings would take exception to these people just showing up with barricades.

No ma'am it's not a lie. There are multiple posters here who state that unequivocally. If you don't know that (which I find hard to believe) then just start paying more attention. Also type in "the myth of systemic racism" into Google. You'll find article after article not merely claiming that "systemic" racism doesn't exist, but that racism itself just isn't an issue for anyone except those Blacks and Democrats who keep bringing it up. (Because, of course, Blacks and Democrats can't be trusted, right? Pfft)

Racism is less of a problem for whom? would be the question. Less of a problem for the White majority? and anyone who gets to shelter under those wings? Sure.

For most people that don't fall in that zone of protection? Racism certainly exists and is a just as virulent as it's ever been.

Who's not talking about racial tensions between Blacks and Latinos? That's not true either.

Who's "they" in your last sentence Ketsuko?

Things escalate in Seattle.

The protesters occupy city hall overnight. It is believed they were let in by councilwoman Kshama Sawant.

She is an open socialist elected to the council.

These are some of the same people who are holding the Capital Hill Autonomous Zone.

They are demanding the immediate resignation of the mayor and chief of police among other things.

At work so this will be short.

I have run into several federal positions where if I apply and get compared to and equal Candidate in all ways but he has a darker skin tone I lose.

Anecdotal I know, I just state this because systemic racism rears its head in many different ways, not just the way the media tries to portray it.

I know it feels that way a lot.

Affirmative Action (and all the systemic bureaucratic echoes) tries to end discrimination by discriminating and that doesn't work over the long haul. Like many ideas at the outset it was a fine sentiment, then we gave it to government which confounds everything.

C HAZ runs into its first problems.

The Capital Hill Autonomous Zone is learning why there is a police force. They're experiencing their first real problems.

When they set up their zone, they invited all the homeless to come live free with them, and they are suffering the first issue with that choice.

For being autonomous, they are not self-sustaining. They are completely reliant on the same country they declared their independence from. Also, they don't want meat ... just vegan meat substitutes, please.

The other problem is those pigs (the cops) took their barricade, so they are also learning that they want to have and enforce their own borders. Isn't that why their brothers and sisters in the cause occupied an ICE facility in Portland? Because the US wanted to enforce its borders?

I guess it's totally different when they want to.

Maybe you should stop listening to right wing propaganda and forming your opinions around such. For whatever it’s worth, it shows.

Maybe just for a change you could direct a statement at the topic and not at me. You peel off one phrase, take it out of context, and think you've been cute. You only sound whiny and snipish.

I don't care what you think, and very likely neither does anyone else.

Well now we have a solution to this problem. The police need to set up a siege wall around these 6 square blocks immediately, nothing get in... if a drone tries to fly over the wall, it's shot down. Starve the punks out and see just how strong their resolve actually is. Best case scenario, it's iron clad and the entire problem is self correcting.

You realize the situation isn't really anything like that ... the cops pulled back, left behind the plastic blockades and stuff ... the kids hand wrote some signs and now they feel like they can protest at will.

If it's keeping them from rioting ... what harm is it?
