Why would Elmer Fudd be unauthorized to carry a weapon? He's a hunter. Anyone out hunting generally has the proper authorizations. Isn't that one of the big brags you "woke" societies like to make? That you are perfectly civilized and you still allow weapons for hunting?

I still think this one and Barber of Seville one are some of the funniest ones.

Hunting is a legitimate reason to obtain a firearms license in Australia and New Zealand.

That doesn't legitimize walking through the center of a city or other populated area, open carrying. There are regulations for safely transporting firearms.

It's the same impulse that led them to sanitize ET with walkie talkies where there had previously been guns.

This whole thing does illustrate an interesting point though.

For years, the moral right has wondered if some things in media have been too far, and we've been laughed out of the room, but here we go with basically the exact same kind of moralizing being done by the progressive left, and because they're doing it, it is suddenly something real that they need to pay attention to.

They have no standards if they don't have double standards.

Why? Because some of us boomers are still watching them today.
We encourage this trait in our grandchildren as well.

**warning offensive cartoon**
Universal Films presents a Walter Lantz cartoon 1941 banned but still out there. Yep I loved Sam Droopy and Woody Wood Pecker... sold on VHS and YT still permits it.

Way worse than a hunting buffoon..

Good lord no!

A cartoon no one has watched in 30 years?

The horror.

EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!! Who gives a flying rat's patootie about a silly cartoon?

So WHY are they changing it and why is it even in the news? Posturing?

Well, of course. Like I said it is not like Elmer is the flagship of the company.

It's an easy way (financially) for them to virtue signal. Meh.

So, a cartoon character is being drawn without a gun?

The real problem is that American society feels the need to carry a deadly weapon for 'safety'. Can't you see there is something very wrong at the core, there?

There are whole cultures and societies that are free, and affluent, and happy, but where carrying a weapon is generally considered to be anti-societal and a sign of criminal intent if the carrier is unauthorized to do so.

Old Elmer is a 'hunter' cartoon character that hunts wabbits.
Are you saying hunters shouldn't use guns to hunt?

I've always hunted with a scythe.

It's not an "assault scythe" so I'm good.

Logical.
Down on the farm, I've always mowed down my crops with an Uzi.

Why stop there? lets put Wile E. Coyote on the most wanted list for domestic terrorism! why not accuse Sylvester of racial descriminination against mexican mice? Hell let's label pepe le pew as a sexual predator!

It's an effin cartoon. These so called progressive sycophants have gone all Helen Lovejoy with their 'you can't do this because i'm a celebrity and that automatically makes me a pillar of insight!'

Elmer, get out your gun because it's idiot season.

My goodness gracious me, darn it that's stupid.

Sure, we can drop an anvil on you or blow you sky-high with a stick of dynamite ... but no gun.

When you guys are right, you're right. That's beyond stupid.

If you can't have Elmer with a hunting gun, then don't have Elmer. Might as well take Bugs' carrots away.

Beheading and disemboweling small animals with a medieval scythe is a much more relevant message for today's kids.

Thanks for making Saturday mornings, fun and PC for our little ones, Warner Brothers.

Not only did he have the proper authorizations, but he made sure he hunted the correct animal depending on the season. Duck, rabbit, or otherwise.

The clip you posted and the Rabbit of Seville are both Chuck Jones directed, they're the funniest animation WB has ever put out.

I was never a big fan of Chuck Jones. Too cutesy. And he did a terrible job with Tom and Jerry.

Give me a Tex Avery or Leon Schlesinger directed Bugs Bunny any day.

I read this yesterday. I can't even. Seriously can't.

This is by far the most idiotic, lame, off-your-freakin'-rocker move yet.

Slice them open or feed them dynamite. A-OK. Guns? oh hell no.

I grew up on Bugs and Tom and Jerry. Never, ever, ever once did I suddenly get the urge to blow someone away with a gun from watching those cartoons. Nor did I find myself shivering and traumatized by such 'terroristic' pixels. Funny enough, I knew fantasy from reality. Imagine that.
