So I used to visit this site quite often when things weren't so political. Not so much anymore.

So anyway here is an interesting music video I ran across quite by coincidence tonight. The blatant symbolism is in your face, IMO. But I am curious as to others' opinions. What say you? Is this a parody? Is it a mockery? Is it really symbolic of what happens in the music industry?

I would like to add that it would be easier to be able just to paste the YouTube link, and not have to find the last code to be able to embed the video.

And perhaps it would be nice to be able to embed from various other video sites as well.

ETA:

Since the lyrics themselves are in French I thought I'd post a machine translation:

The price to pay (I think a better translation would probably be The Price Paid)

We do things that we really regret
As time has passed , I have made a vow
I had it done sincerely
We never forget foolishly
I dream of a life where I wisely sleep
I am aware that I have so much
With the time I have made a vow
I did it sincerely
And I say it clearly
I have done things that I really regret

I am told: put it there you're holding
How many are lost on their way
What would I do if I was you
What would you do if you were me
I am told put it there you're holding
How many have reached out to me
What would I do if I was you
What would you do if you were me

I came , I confess that I have lost my time
And I had nothing I could do aside clenching my teeth
I have dreamt my life
Through the window
We desire mercilessly
However takes life is behind the door
There you realise that all has passed so fast
I have continued my journey
I have continued my journey, continued my journey
I have continued my journey ( to continue ,to continue )
I have continued my journey , continued my journey

We do things that we regret , it's true
And I have learned to back off
Sometimes I am vacant
And I have done too much
I live the night because I dream in secret
All these evils that I will take
In the hardships I shut myself away
I put myself in danger
I'm building , I undo
We do things that we regret , it's true ,( that we regret, it's true )

I am told : "put it there, I'm holding
How many are lost on their way
What would I do if I was you
What would you do if you were me."
I am told : "put it there I'm holding
How many have reached out to me
What would I do if I was you
What would you do if you were me."

I came , i confess that I have lost my time
And I had nothing I could do aside clenching my teeth
I have dreamt my life
Through the window
We desire mercilessly
Whoever takes life is behind the door
There you realise that all has passed so fast
I have continued my journey
I have continued my journey, continued my journey
I have continued my journey ( to continue ,to continue )
I have continued my journey , continued my journey

We do things that we regret , it's true
And I have learned to back off
Sometimes I am vacant
And I have done too much
I live the night because I dream in secret
All these evils that I will take

There you realise that all has passed so fast
I have continued my journey
I have continued my journey, continued my journey
I have continued my journey ( to continue ,to continue )
I have continued my journey , continued my journey

I no longer want anything to believe
I don't have anything to hope for anymore
Let me have
What I don't have
I am lost, I don't sleep anymore
In the plain light of day I don't see anymore

I came , I confess that I have lost my time
And I had nothing I could do aside clenching my teeth
I have dreamt my life
Through the window
We desire mercilessly
Whoever takes life is behind the door
There you realise that all has passed so fast
I have continued my journey
I have continued my journey, continued my journey
I have continued my journey ( to continue ,to continue )
I have continued my journey , continued my journey

As it appears this website is a lot slower than it used to be. I was reading through some of the posts on the YouTube video. If this is true it is an interesting fact. I did a search on the origin of Fanta and the Wikepidia website seems to verify it.

It appears that the product placement of Fanta in this video is purposeful. The soda pop was invented during WWII when the ingredients required to make Coca-Cola were not easily imported into Germany. The French termed it the Nazi-Cola. And the word means fantasy.

Yes it’s pretty self explanatory
Don’t think it requires much in the way of a breakdown

Music steals artists Iives and families and normality is sacrificed for money and power
Oh, music and the occult, pretty well accepted by most now days isn’t it

There's no such thing as mundane or profane music. Same for theatre. Each performance ~is~ an act of ritual magic...always has been.

I don't agree with that, but I will say you can't always tell the writer's intent. Lyrics can say different things to different people. Part of the amusement writers get from doing what they do is to hear what people think their intent was.

Pretty self explanatory. Like asking what any other music video is about.

After seeing and hearing thousands and thousands of music and videos. I would say none of them mean anything much. There is no meaning but a passing phase, that is all. No different then looking for meaning in cloud shapes. Whatever you see is what it means.

What don't you agree with? Several things were mentioned in this thread.

So there is no meaning to anything, ever. It is all meaningless. And not just this song, but all songs ever? Ok.

If the shape of clouds depended on the creative faculty of human beings, maybe. A song without that organizing intelligence would just be random noise, like the static between radio stations.

You nihilist, you.

Yes, no real meaning but what you give it. So give it any meaning you wish and want, in a day or so, it wont mean much.

HUH! Nihilist? Just saying, you all making much ado about nothing. There have been likely tens of thousands of people who saw meaning in a Eminem song or any other how about nickleback song or all the teens had a link to britney spears? But there is no overall overly special meaning to any of it.

And the static between radio stations is just unprocessed noise. Everybody is on there own frequencies.

I'm not talking about hidden meanings, I'm talking about the act of composing and performing music. That has a special meaning in itself.

Just because you're used to something, just because to you it's common and normal, that doesn't mean it's any less of a magical activity, will made manifest. It just means you're used to it.

Say, how many songs have you written and performed?
