Cute narrative, but not even the clergy at the Church were informed that Trump would be making an appearance. Instead they were chased off with tear gas and rubber bullets just like the protesters.

ETA: Your NYT link is nice but the timeline is not consistent. Were the protesters leaving at 7:01 like they were supposed to or were they told to leave and didn't? The article alludes to both, so which is it? Context is everything here.
