I am thoroughly enjoying this thread. It sparks real contemplation.
Your illustrations show the dichotomy of eastern and western thought.
The book you speak of is very interesting. I've seen it several times but never took the time to scan it closely until today.
Those reading this thread should not mistake this book as any attempt to proselytize for any religion.
Quite the contrary, it seems more an attempt to conjoin some of the major ideas primary to both eastern and western philosophy.
Thereis no, as someone said, "left hand" or right hand path presented.
The work seems to be a study of what seems good in both, with an acknowledgement that each path is beset with it's on perils.
