Very loose interpretation of the Insurrection Act.

Totally against all precedent, and totally illegal.

So Gryphon, what do you suggest we do about the rioters and looters who are hurting innocent people and damaging and stealing private property? Should we just let them have at it? Should the average well armed American citizen go out and gun them down? Because the fact is that these governors and mayors aren't able to get them under control.

I'd like to hear his answer.

Since one of those innocents home was set on fire with a KID in it, and they blocked the FD from trying to save it.

Yeah, that’s not on topic here either.

But, a note, you have regard for fetuses but none for actual children.

Got it.

Not off topic.

My guess is that he won't answer because in his magical land there are no rioters and looters just peaceful protestors.

Rioters and looters? What percentage of the protesters are looters and rioters?

Can you give us that number?

I’m not a riot control specialist, but it’s fairly common knowledge that you control and disperse, you don’t engage. You sure as hell don’t attack citizens standing nearby.

It’s a matter for legitimate local authorities. The problem we have here is that our police forces have become infiltrated by criminals, white supremacists, and authoritarian nut jobs. There are cops, and there are criminals in cop uniforms.

I can tell you without question that we don’t send in the US Military to soothe President Tweety’s bruised ego. I can tell you for certain that it will be judged as treasonous and utterly illegal in the future when we have sane minds in charge.

I can also tell you that those who are clamoring around the idea that your “enemies” are finally going to get their comeuppance at the hands of our combat soldiers will be seen as statist bootlicking thugs.

Its completely legal under the Insurrection Act. The last time that law was invoked was during the LA riots in the early 90s.

They're recalling the Minnesota governor.

he didn't even try to stop it.

So what option is there left ?

Let the state burn down?

Citizens are still allowed to exercise legal State laws in MN?

Better act fast; Trump is coming.

The legal statute I linked does not seem to require a request for federal assistance by the state. The president has the authority to make that determination himself.

Whenever the President considers that unlawful obstructions, combinations, or assemblages, or rebellion against the authority of the United States, make it impracticable to enforce the laws of the United States in any State by the ordinary course of judicial proceedings, he may call into Federal service such of the militia of any State, and use such of the armed forces, as he considers necessary to enforce those laws or to suppress the rebellion.

The statute is 200 years old.

Legal precedent in the following 200 years demonstrates that the Governors request Federal assistance.

That whole separation of powers thing you know; slows down dictatorships.
