That's how I feel at this point. Essential workers who have been out there (like myself) providing the quality service you always have, just stop. Give the the s#!tty service with attitude they deserve.

Called back 24 for last Monday 17 showed the rest no reply via phone or e mail. They get certified letters today or tomorrow to return next Monday. Monday at 9 the ones who haven't showed will be turned in to HR who has a very direct line to unemployment and they will be done as of last Monday. 1 Asked for a 30% pay raise to come back. I don't have that authority, won't be missed.

The 3 essentials got $2000 bonus I got $1000 stock market is still heading up but don't tell anybody.

What about those of us who not only are working, but have been this whole time. Do we get screwed yet again simply because some lazy asses need an incentive to get off the couch? I'm about ready to riot.

Yes, it's totally wrong.

If people are going to be upset angry or whatever with me when I return in a couple weeks here, then that's on them, and they should quit being babies about it

Who is mad at you? We are talking about the people/government coming up with this crap.

This idea is so stupid that as I was reading it, blood shot straight out my left eye and hit the computer screen.

Let me guess... you need a transfusion to watch CNN?

They don't want people going back to work as usual, this is why there is free money imo. They want all the small companies to fail.

They got what they wanted. I closed the doors to my retail shop and laid off my employees. I also gave them the inventory and gave the shop to them with my blessings if they want to reopen and paid for their LLC.

My energies will now go into my union gig that I have continued working at. No lock down for me. I did get a fantastic bonus and feel grateful and blessed to be in an industry that "never sleeps".

I did get a $1200 check that trump signed. I framed it. That won't even come close to paying my taxes. And I don't mind my taxes being used to help the American working man thru stimulus checks but I do resent stimulus check being given to corporations that are already profitable like banks, oil companies, etc.

This sounds reasonable. They need to do something to create incentive for business to ramp up fast.

What do you think is going to happen when one fast food worker is making $450 more than the other.
It won't be an issue in places that were completely closed, but it will be a big issue in places that laid off only a portion.

Firstly, it is a one-off payment. Secondly, why should one employee know the wage of another?

you only regulate and tax businesses at minimum level for business.

you dont demand that a MINIMUM WAGE WORKER get the same pay as a skilled worker.

you dont create an environment where you cant have (ex food service) dine in, mask everyone, and shut it down on BAD MODELS.

you create an overall economic environment where there are more jobs than workers , thus making workers a valuable commodity that they pay more to get them

you STOP justifying illegal immigrants and importing workers until all americans (AND LEGAL IMMIGRANTS ) have been employed first.

you stop giving programs that make more than getting a job.. even if that job is "picking crops in the fields " (btw my mother and father who come from farming communities did to make summer cash ) .

in short you STOP SUPPORTING SOCIALISM (or whatever name you like to use now) over capitalism (with minimum regulations).

funny how before the corvid 19 shutdown our economy was doing much better in last three years than the previous 8

hmmmmm

It wasn't doing better.

White House Considering $450 Weekly ‘Back To Work Bonus’

From the link I posted, it is a weekly bonus.

Correct. I've worked through the entirety of this thing. Do I get a raise too?

You know what would be a good incentive to get people back to work? STOP GIVING THEM FREE MONEY

Why the eff do they always talk backwards?

Who decides these strange Marixst turns of phrase?

'In an interview with Fox News, Sen. Portman indicated the $600 weekly unemployment bonus is a disincentive for unemployed workers to return to work because many of them currently earn more while unemployed than while working.
'

In other words, its an 'employment bonus that is an incentive for employed workers to return to work'

That makes far more sense;

Am I stupid?

I hate this 75% as much as I hate the $600/week not working bonus. We can't fill a bunch of positions vacated by people who chose to leave for unemployment, because nobody wants tocome off the gravy train.

To think that now the people who have continued busting their butts more-so than pre-Rona get NOTHING (reduced income for tripled workload for many of us), while others will get $450/week bonuses for having done nothing for weeks while the rest of us busted our butts, makes me sick.

I hope those who have stayed unemployed purposefully have a hard time getting work after the gravy train runs out.

Totally unsurprising that you would support ridiculously insane garbage like this.

I was in favor of the fed covering the employees wages. I was infuriated, but unsurprised, when the demwits snuck in the 'extra', and knew it would cause all kinds of problems. And here we are...

The problem with covering employees' wages is that @hole employers have chosen to shed staff and rehire to fill the positions so that they don't have to pay wages for the duration of lockdown, but can pocket the difference because there will be someone in the role by the end of lockdown.

And there is a lot of lost productivity that the US needs to catch up on. Surely a one-off bonus is do-able and an incentive to really boost the recovery.

Yes, you are right, but in the article it is only to be paid for a limited time. It's described as a "back to work bonus". I don't imagine that is perpetual.

People talk, and since it's all over the news they will know

Yes, I suppose, but the whole thing is speculative. No-one has implemented this. They are just discussing it.

All 7 people got their certified letter today 1 refused to sign. No word from any so HR was notified. Monday the 1st by 9 AM their benefits will be cut unless they show up by 8 and check in the proper area. The rumor is all will be giving up about $60k a year for nothing thinking they will get unemployment forever. The one that demanded a pay raise has been released via her request after being told no. So she gets nothing.

Strange times indeed. The workers will go on voluntary 10 hr Monday -Thursday and 8 hrs Friday starting next week. All getting an extra weeks vacation available after Sept 1st that they can cash in anytime.

Offers have been put out to many for early retirement 2 of the 7 that didn't return qualified but they don't have access to internal e mail while off and can't get the offer.

As i have said all along the only people making out on this mess will be the lawyers.

I don't begrudge a laid off worker at all.
I do wonder about people we have elected that come up with this crap.

I've been laid off. My unemployment hasn't come in yet. Been over a month. If anything its given me time to think. I'll be ok with my savings. It made me realize that I used to cook, dance, and be happy. Once this crap blows over, I'm gonna do it again. If it doesnt blow over, I'll do it anyway. I was happy.

Ive never taken benefits before, so I understand the plight. There's no way to find work at the moment short of starting a business. I can't even get a delivery job..

Its tough out there... I have a degree and I'm screwed... I planned for this scenario, but most people haven't...

When enough people have become lazy enough they will stop the free money so people will be forced to work for "The Man" for peanuts or face starvation.

Along with seeing co-workers use every excuse to qualify for unemployment, we've been aware an thinking when things finally get back to "normal" it's going to be a field day for employers with the large pool of applicants. Some of have lived thru it before.

Bluntone22 is also hitting home. We've been busting our butts in essential manufacturing an get NADA. No temp increase like Wally World, no attendance incentives, just our standard screwing. Actually no ones surprised, just tired of hearing the ways other employees are valued.

The company has already gone to hiring temps instead of permanent hires like they did six months ago. Radical change, but it's easy to see which way the wind is blowing. Todays kids are going to be in for a compete shock in about another six months, college degree's or not. It's going to be a corporate field day cost-wise.
