Cronyism much?

Cuomo has received a lot of criticism when he required nursing homes to take in COVID-19 patients.

No resident shall be denied re-admission or admission to the NH solely based on a confirmed or suspected diagnosis of COVID-19.

Then, just recently, Cuomo signed legislation last month that protects executives from lawsuits.

Now, it has been discovered that during the 2018 Democratic primary, his political apparatus got a last-minute boost: a powerful healthcare industry group suddenly poured more than $1m into a Democratic committee backing his campaign.

Less than two years after that flood of cash from the Greater New York Hospital Association (GNYHA), Cuomo signed legislation last month quietly shielding hospital and nursing home executives from the threat of lawsuits stemming from the coronavirus outbreak. The provision, inserted into an annual budget bill by Cuomo’s aides, created one of the nation’s most explicit immunity protections for healthcare industry officials, according to legal experts.

New York has become one of the globe’s major pandemic hotspots – and the center of the state’s outbreak has been nursing homes, where more than 5,000 New Yorkers have died, according to Associated Press data.

Those deaths have occurred as Cuomo’s critics say he has taken a hands-off approach to regulating the healthcare industry interests that helped bankroll his election campaign. In March, Cuomo’s administration issued an order that allowed nursing homes to readmit sick patients without testing them for Covid-19. Amid allegations of undercounted casualties, the governor also pushed back against pressure to have state regulators more stringently record and report death rates in nursing homes.

And then came Cuomo’s annual budget – which included a little-noticed passage shielding corporate officials who run New York hospitals, nursing homes and other healthcare facilities from liability for Covid-related deaths and injuries.

So, will "King" Cuomo be scrutinized by MSM for this, or will he get a free pass? Cuomo has been back peddling and making excuses for his March 25 order (since deleted) requiring nursing homes to take in COVID-19 patients.

Can you imagine the MSM backlash if a Republican Governor did this? A quid pro quo scandal committed by a Democrat is just swept under the rug.

Just proves that Cuomo is just another despicable, pandemic media clown, blaming other people for his state's problems, while "passing the bucket" for the deaths of over 5000 senior citizens.

Hell would freeze over before Cuomo or anyone else in his party is held to the same standards they set for the great orange messiah.

Cuomo gets $1M for 10,000 dead nursing home residents?
That's $100 per head.

Who says old people have no value?

Cuomo has received a lot of criticism when he required nursing homes to take in COVID-19 patients.

Never made any since to me.
Any other highly contagious illness and the person wouldn't be allowed to enter.
And those are the people most in risk of dying.
And their all grouped close together.
And we have seen what happens in other nursing homes when this virus pops up there.

I think I'm ok with that. Lot of people are going to wrongfully blame healthcare workers during something like this.
Except who are the executives? Are those the doctors and nurses?

And that doesn't shield him from liability about forcing nursing homes to take covid infected people.
He's the one that needs to pay for that.

On May 10, and amid increasing criticism, Cuomo issued a new directive stating that hospitals cannot send patients back to nursing homes in the state unless they tested negative for the virus.

Oh, so he listened to the public and changed things the way we wanted.
Good then. What's the issue?

Here ya go...

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has stealthily attempted to rewrite history, deleting his controversial order requiring nursing homes to admit Covid-19 patients from the state health website and blaming facilities for obeying it.

After being lambasted in the press for the March 25 executive order that forced New York elder care facilities to accept patients infected with the highly contagious virus, Cuomo attempted to blame the nursing homes for not disobeying his orders, during the Wednesday press conference.

No. The executives are not doctors or nurses. The executives are corporate a-holes who know nothing about health care.
The doctors and nurses have nothing to do with admissions. The executives hire people called liaisons who go out and recruit new patients to live in the nursing home. The doctors and nurses just show up to the nursing home and do their jobs
