As the holiday weekend was wrapping up here in the US, and the MSM media was focusing on the impact of COVID on festivities and traditional 'start of summer' events nationwide, I kept watching, waiting, expecting to see some report on one of the large media outlets about the absolute EXPLOSION of gun violence, mostly involving minority perpetrators and victims, across different locations over the past few days. Oddly (/s /s /s)....no stories ever appeared.

I will cite this thread here on ATS for bringing attention to one of the epicenters of these weekend's carnage: bedlam in and around Daytona Beach that apparently had some questioning "where are the police??" Aside from the obvious answer that law enforcement can only patrol so much ground, cover so many different areas, we all know that police are now constantly in the cross-hairs of SJW and woke activists, so any little misstep they make amidst a literal OCEAN of violent crime is magnified, amplified, reverberated, commented on, retweeted, and generally blown out of proportion. This narrative flies in the face of all available nationwide data on the ratio of net violent crime relative to unjustified police brutality, but it is promulgated nonetheless, to fit the SJW agenda and give activists fuel and justification for their perspective having any social merit whatsoever.

That said, this is likely just a fraction, perhaps large or perhaps small, of the total gun violence that occurred during the holiday. It's hard to get a sense of the scope of it, because traditional "journalists" and the MSM have abrogated their historical role in collating facts and aggregating information to provide a big picture view of how pervasive these incidents are nowadays. Long story short: ain't got no time for that. Not when it's much more facile to report on a handful of "white cop shoots black victim" events, and have simpletons and self-flagellating hand wringers lap it up.

I will be eagerly awaiting to see if this thread receives the traffic and posts this thread has gotten, what, hundreds of comments by this point, relating to ONE. SINGLE. SHOOTING. of questionable circumstances. Now that we touch on the subject of the Georgia jogger shooting, if you feel inclined to talk about that, please go post in that thread. This thread concerns the bedlam taking place across America this past weekend.

Thanks for your replies.

There is a massive psyop being conducted against the people right now. Resorting to violence in a time of pent up emotion and mass-produced fear porn and you have a powederkeg society.

yea so what? People shoot each other all the time every day. They also stab and cut each other daily, club each other with blunt objects, stomp and strangle, immolate, use automobiles to run each other over.

What I want to see on the news is them showing that the CDC now suggests scenario 5 in their models as the best estimate (i.e. most accurate) model for current available data. Scenario 5 shows a 0.004 overall general mortality rate. That means everything that has been done was done on a lie, which was pretty obvious to many of us who actually have a critical thinking mind and basic understanding of people in power, especially influencers.

Whatever though, I was actually badgered to visit Daytona Beach this past weekend, I was not feeling it so I passed. Clearly I made the right choice. Not to mention it was all rainy on that side of the coast. It was overcast in the Bay area, but it barely sprinkled so we enjoyed some pool time.

I know that during Topless Weekend at Crystal Beach, TX there was a shooting. Topless Weekend (meaning topless vehicles) is considered the official start of Summer down there. My sister and BIL live there and when I was younger I attended many, many times. Since I got older not really interested any more.

My wife, despite my best attempts to dissuade here of the practice, consumes most of her "news" from the cable broadcasting networks.

I kept chiding her....did you hear about what happened in Daytona Beach this weekend? No?? When's CNN going to dispatch Jim Acosta there. How about the insanity in South Carolina where a 'block party' had roadways un-passable?

Deputies responded to the party at 7:40 p.m. on Dover Road because of noise complaints. 200 to 300 vehicles were parked on both sides of Highway 114 and Highway 9 in Jonesville, officials said.

Maybe I'll read about some Big Media piece , NYT or WaPo, that adds up the body count nationwide, and tries to understand the common denominators across this whole thing? I'll be waiting, any day now...

I mean, we are in the middle of a pandemic still. Seems wise for 2-3 houses to host an estimated 1k revelers, no?

Do 'journalists' and their overlords honestly think such widespread mayhem can go on around the country, and it'd escape notice on a larger scale? Maybe because the events tend to only gain attention on a local and regional level, and thanks to the MSM blackout on this subject, they figure this will escape notice?

How does that make everyone feel? The 'journalists' have such a low opinion on the public's ability to think critically, and stitch together tidbits of information, that nobody will understand the larger theme?

Frankly that p!sses me off.

You know this only happened because people went outside their homes and didn't stay inside cowering in fear of COVID-19.

Yeah point taken, but then again, we can backtest the notion of pandemic porn against the shooting statistics of Chicago and find, well.....turns out Memorial Day is a hotspot in Chicago every single year.

What about at the beach locations, Daytona and Myrtle. Were these outbreaks due to jostling over supplies? TP? Lines to get into Costco?

o_O

No. These were supposed to be entertainment gatherings, release valves for all of the pent up COVID mania.

But we're missing the the common themes here.

Warm weather.

Massive crowds.

Demographics.
Demographics.
Demographics.......

From your source:

Symptomatic Case Fatality Ratio: The number of symptomatic individuals who die of the disease among all individuals experiencing symptoms from the infection. This parameter is not necessarily equivalent to the number of reported deaths per reported cases, because many cases and deaths are never confirmed to be COVID-19, and there is a lag in time between when people are infected and when they die. This parameter reflects the existing standard of care and may be affected by the introduction of new therapeutics.

Youre like me then. Im from New Orleans.. born and raised. I DO NOT go to Mardi Gras. We had private parties. I lived in the French Quarter and even as a kid people pissed and puked in the yard and much more. Now its even worse. The rabid tourists and home grown idiots ruin it for all of us.

In my little town they are planning a Covid 19 Party on Main. Yep.. morons. What the hell is wrong with people?? Theyre going to get us shut down yet again. Then we wont have a main street left because theyll all be bankrupt.

People will use ANY excuse to act like idiots. Yeah, they got cabin fever suddenly and had to go shooty and all. Trump did that too I imagine.

Chicago suffers bloodiest ......
Fox News from 20 hours ago.

Chicago sees deadliest....

CNN, posted yesterday, updated today. Also ABC, NBC, Newsweek and............

Not sure I've noticed a blackout?

"Widespread mayhem" seem to be a bit much. Over 300 million on a holiday weekend when people tend to party hard, likely sees a spike in crime every single year.

Daytona Beach -
USA Today
..there are also stories on Fox, CBS and .......................

One need only look past the headlines, which are of course mainly about the election and the virus.

Alcohol, drugs, mental illness and gang activity explain it all.

Yeah, it's funny to me since I moved to Kentucky everybody here goes to beaches on vacation. Personally I've always preferred the lake or the mountains. I guess if you grow up there it gets old. Plus sand in your crack sucks!

I've been to NO many times. One day of Bourbon Street and the French Quarter is about all I can stand, then I look for other things to do. Too many belligerent tourists!

Where's the outrage? You didn't care before:

After the American College of Physicians recently adopted a policy position calling gun violence what it is, “a public health crisis” that “requires the nation’s immediate attention,” the National Rifle Association doubled down on the arrogance that helped to create the crisis.

www.citizensvoice.com...

But, you want us to care about guns now, now that the president has declared Covid19 a public health crisis that his supporters don't believe or care about.

0.004 is not "the mortality rate" its a specific factor to be utilized in developing mathematical models of the COVID situation.

I linked the description directly from the CDC document above.

You presume a great deal, telling me what I do and don't care about, or what I WANT you to care or not care about.

My question was just that: a dispassionate query. "WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE?"

Now that we've got that out of the way, and I've duly ignored your attempt at deflection, perhaps we can get back on topic, which is, why hasn't their been any attempts in the larger media companies to piece together these disparate, disconnected, data points of violence, and tie them together?

With respect, I disagree. Yes, while there has been coverage of individual threads of the larger tapestry, nobody is sweeping the whole rug.

The statistics on Chicago, while eye popping on their own, were just one facet of the weekend's story, and in fact a repetitive news blurb that could've been cut 'n paste from any post-Memorial Day article from the past decade.

I'll confess I don't pay attention to most cable news networks, but as of yesterday evening, didn't see any mention of the Beach shootings, either one. I may be mistaken of course, but that is beside the point.

As I mentioned in my opening post, it seemed that if anything, the lede from the online stories about the Daytona Beach free-for-all (I noted in particular the drone shot of the man passing out $ bills from the sunroof to a street full of revelers) was "Where were the police??"

A more disingenuous question, taken in context with the majority of stories in news headlines nationally, heck even posts on this forum, may not have been uttered.
