Today I went to a garage sale

The bride and myself went shopping this early afternoon.

On our way back home we saw a sign for a garage sale.

At my wifes insistance, we followed the signs and went to the address.

It was a 3-home sale.

Pretty big.

Must have been 30+ people while we were there.

No one was wearing a mask.

No one was "social distancing".

It was nice.

It was normal.

Bought a weed whacker and the wife bought some corningware bowls.

People, regular people, are ignoring the panic and getting on with their lives.

It was good to see.

Just got back from the river. It looked a lot like the old normal.

No masks, coolers, bikinis, families, friends, music, dancing, Social freedom.

Almost cried.


Edit Rant: It’s will be an absolute nightmare if they tell us we have to go back inside.

The skeptic in me says, don’t get comfortable, they can pull the rug right back out from underneath us at any moment.

I am going to miss the rummage sales. The wife and I always went out to shop, but we mostly looked because we already have so much junk. I enjoy going to them. I occasionally buy the half pint canning jars when we go, when we give away our strawberry and cherry jams, we do not get that many of the jars back except from the daughters and the granddaughters...and there are always less coming back than we give them.

I have heard that most of the rummage sales will not be allowed this spring. Maybe not at all this summer, every event other than one cross country bike race has been already cancelled. The Marquette exchange club had the international food fest, cancelled, so has the sea food fest. That takes away almost thirty grand of money from the charities they used to support. That will never be replaced. Our governor did us a real dis-service by promoting fear in Michigan. No normal for this summer, and we all know that this may come back in the winter, so no enjoyment for most people which will lead to more frustration building up and more people just giving up if they get sick.

I saw a guy with a mask modified to cover his ass, I`m thinking of taking up the fashion trend myself. Maybe have my own line of ass masks that have phrases on them like the fat girls in spandex.

Did you see any good vintage receivers there for cheap? I'm looking for a good late 70's early 80's Technics or Pioneer or even a realistic. Nevermind...

I was quite excited that a new client actually stuck his hand out for a shake when I met him today. Shaking hands is verboten in the new dystopia you know.

I dunno. I just went to the snooty pooty grocery store on the nice side of town. I was the only one not wearing a mask, and not losing my sheet. (What I mean is, people getting all huffy puffy about social distancing etc.)

I'm afraid the collective idiocy is still at large. I would wager it was always there, people have just found a new outlet to express how utterly stupid and gullible they are.
