Full title is : Education Dept. Uncovers Billions In Unreported Foreign Donations From China and Russia to US Colleges... So ask yourself why would China and even Russia be donating this kind of money to American Universities unless they thought they could buy or get something in return ?

Over the last few months with the arrest of some college professors selling research secrets and drawing a monthly salary from the CCP I would think things are going to get rather hot for those who want to play the 'foreign academic espionage game'.

I have said it before IMO the government is like a pack of sleeping dogs. All it takes is one bark or one sniff and the whole darn pack will come after you unless they are fed to look the other way.

The Department of Education told House Republicans, during a briefing and in a letter, their investigation into Institutions of Higher Education (IHE) for foreign investments and donations has so far uncovered over $6 billion of previously unreported foreign donations from known adversarial countries.

The briefing and the letter are the result of House Republicans' inquiry into U.S. colleges being investigated by the Education Department for violating Section 117 of the Higher Education Act of 1965, which prohibits an IHE from improperly reporting or failing to report foreign gifts of $250,000 or more, as part of their wider probe into the Chinese Communist Party's influence within the United States.

townhall.com...

Of course some institutions are trying to avoid handing over records ... Like when you ask the twins, "Who did it" and the response is to point at each other and say not me .. I hope the DOJ catches and burns those on the take who would sell their country out for short sighted personal gain.

The problem with a government investigation is the guilty parties usually have enough time to change the paperwork to back up their narratives or bleach bit their hard drives !! hahah.

Dude, this is chilling and the DOJ needs to be involved.

The DoE told House committee staffers they have found evidence some colleges base their decisions on the foreign donations they receive, according to two House GOP sources on the briefing call.
"This is not a partisan problem. This is an American problem," a GOP source with knowledge of the matter told Townhall.

The reason for the delay in the documents from the universities is because their counsel has contacted the DoE and "claimed Freedom of Information Act exemptions and legal privileges to block record production to Congress. Although we are concerned there may be evidence suggesting certain institutions could be 'overmarking' documents with business information confidentiality and privilege claims

The IRS will get wind of this and will wonder where its share of the money is going.

This is going to get bigger and I certainly hope so, people need to be fired, cuffed and charged.

They do get a lot in return. Russia and China can send their spies to a country that easily welcomes them whereas if American students do this or attempt to expose/remove them from their positions, there's backlash.

I expect a lot of scandals in universities too, not just political ones like ObamaGate. I've always suspected some professors were paid shills with an agenda, freemasons, or even had ties to intelligence agencies, as crazy as that sounds. It looks like there are numerous attempts to get this generation to accept socialism and political correctness and professors play a huge role in this.

These people are interconnected and aware of their actions but if one speaks out, they'll all fall like dominos. As of April 2020, there are over 160k sealed cases in the US, with CA having 28k. Imagine what will happen if these get unsealed in the following years. It's going to be glorious!

6 billion USD is not walking into any room for no reason at all. Obviously researchers are most of them, just naive pawns, but truth of the matter is, they inadvertently offer access for intelligence agencies to just about anything.

No wonder then the whole domain is more lenient towards east, and propagate also the leftist kumbaya ... Money makes you bow to where it ever comes from.

Yikes.

You havnt noticed all the socialists in your political parties, all the schools raising socialists agendas, raising socialist students
Doesn’t just happen.
Look at Occasio Cortez, probably educated by a socialist sponsored university lecturer being paid by China as well as the University

Hitlers agenda, teach them when you can mould them

Anyway
If it’s what people want to vote for

They donate large sums to buy their citizens a place in the universities. Its just regular corruption. I think a few Countries do it, including wealthy Americans.

A very well known hospital in Tampa has recently exposed top level officials double dipping their pay with China. Sharing very top level intel. They were all in on it. So far, only one indictment in the past six months. Many have been fired or quit.
Been going on for years. Americans selling out.

Treason in my book. Certainly isn't making national news. Greed before country.

You know there was this period known as the brain drain in Europe when the US spirited away our intellectual's, offered them better paying job's and big houses as well as state of the art facility's and basically impoverished European science and medicine by taking the best and brightest.

Look's to me that China was merely doing the same thing, yes intellectual's are also a great group to harvest for ideological motivated spy's as was the case in the cold war notably with group's from Oxford over here in the UK that led to our secret services disgracing themselves before the US (not that anyone is perfect) so it happens.

However if this was simply donation's to these campus with perhaps a wish to encourage more cooperation between the scientific and international community then it would not be a bad thing, it is easy to see a nefarious side to everything though.

Most Chinese are simply folk, decent, hard working but living on the opposite side of the Pacific from the US and with a completely different type of government system - but at the level of people most of them are not that different to you and yours, a bit less gun crime though.

That said as a state China is out of control with it's recent expansion into regions of disputed territory, a more aggressive international stance.

In an ideal world we would ALL work together.

What we need is to get these politician's from all sides to sit on an island with a table and chairs - with a forty foot wall around it and armed guards so that they can not escape and the rest of us can then get on with living.

Still it's about time someone in the west started to bring back there company's that BETRAYED there own workers in search of short term profit by exploiting the cheap labour that China was offering, you know there were people even back then that sounded the horn about arming a communist super power with our expertise, giving them control of our manufacturing and allowing our corporate leaders to run the world like gangsters and sell us out to these nation's.

But did anyone listen - no they called them loon's, our people ended up with no job's, our kid's with no prospect's and our science fell into the backwater because were the hell are you going to get a job in science when the company's that formerly employed scientists, engineer's and other technically specified people had suddenly gone off to Asia and all in a window of twenty years or so forever changing the face of our nation's, empty street's full of derelict shop's, run down water front's that used to be hub's of commerce, derelict factory's and not because the job's and the demand is not there but because it was taken from us by greedy, grubby faceless corporate boards whom sold out to the siren call of China.

In China's defence it was obviously not there fault, they just did a very clever thing they offered cheap labour, favourable business law's and plenty of resources and they got the training, expertise and corporate investments in there education sector since those corporation's then needed local expert's to fill the job's they had taken there.

For China it was a win, win scenario but for the west it was a lose, lose, lose scenario, those that decried it were called Leftists, trade union commies and worse because they could see the writing on the wall and dared to challenge it, our job's were being stolen NOT by the Chinese but by the Corporation's and very, very bad government policy's and trade deal's that actually forced many of those corporations that were slow to do this to have to eventually do it just to keep up with the ones' that had done it before them and then move the remaining job's over there, it all started if you remember in the 70's and we started to see closures over here in the UK by the 80's and 90's of a great many well known and famous manufacturers since they had moved there business to Asia.

Now Asia is a self perpetuating economic system, they have there own consumer base and can sustain there own job's but we in the west have sacrificed our industrial base to the alter of Asian cheap labour, this in turn has harmed our consumer base severely as no money mean's no barter power and you can only make thing's so cheap until a parity is reached, we passed that some time ago with Asian wages rising, western buying power falling and the so called rise of the tiger economy's except they are not, they are OUR economy's that got pilfered by our corporate boards and stolen from us.

So anger against China on that point is a bit misguided it was actually our own short sighted government's in the west and our own greedy corporate boards that caused this, China's growing power is merely the result and give a kid a toy he is going to play with it, give a communist regime money for huge military power they are going to invest and once again give a kid a toy.

People have no idea to the extent that China has infiltrated our academic institutions, and any/all corporations (e.g. big tech) that rely on STEM graduates.

If you look at each individual on their own merit, students from China are very often bright, well educated and have worked through a highly competitive system against incredible odds (considering size of China's population working towards higher education) just to reach the US education system. Yes, some positions are bought by wealthy parents, but no more ore less than from other countries.

The problem is, at a strategic level, nobody in the US government has their eye on the ball, with a macro-level view of the ratios of American students to Chinese, the fields they are educated in, employment prospects, etc.

Should a young man or women that worked hard to enter a US university be denied matriculation just b/c they are Chinese? Absolutely not. That said, where is the mandate and urgency to ensure that the US is filling universities, and then entry level jobs, with enough US citizens such that if a state of war began with China or any foreign country tomorrow, we'd have a pipeline of well-educated, capable students to enter our work force.

China is 3x+ our size, in terms of population. Students will continue to come here, because of the great education system. Someone at top levels of government should understand the risk this poses to our future, if we are effectively inundated with students from another country to the degree that we are not educating enough of our own students to build a viable talent pipeline.

I don't have concrete answers how to avoid bias against individual Chinese students, while maintaining a more than healthy ratio of US students, particularly in STEM, filling our universities. Right now it's a free for all. The future will determine whether or not this lack of a well defined policy for giving our own students preferred seating will have dire consequences.

They don't even try and hide it and it was still lapped up. Confucius institutes are a big chunk of those billions.

Tide Turns Against Beijing-Backed Confucius Institutes on American Campuses

Bolded by me. This from their own CCP prpagand chief.

Chinese officials themselves have remarked that Confucius Institutes are a key plank in the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) campaign to expand its global influence.

The CCP’s then-propaganda chief Li Changchun in 2009 described Confucius Institutes as “an important part of China’s overseas propaganda set-up.”

Later in a 2011 speech, he extolled the centers as an “appealing brand for extending our culture abroad.” “It has made an important contribution toward improving our soft power.

The ‘Confucius’ brand has a natural attractiveness. Using the excuse of teaching Chinese language, everything looks reasonable and logical,” Li said at the time.

Look at the video about an ex kgb agent after the cold war ended that tells you about what is happening. He said they didn't have the money or power to go head to head with the us so their plan was to get us to fight with each other and use money to infiltrate us. It appears the seed were planted back then and have continued to grow and china has been watering them.

Our politicians were to greedy to see the long term effects and sold us out. China has control of our manufacturing, hollywood, and now what appears to be our childrens education to some extent . I wouldnt be surprised if they are bank rolling some of the big wigs in the cia and our news.

It would certainly explain why the media is constantly trying to inflame race wars, Male vs female, gay vs straight, etc. Hollyweird pushing woke films majority dont want. Education system that indoctrines the same narratives pushed by the msm and hollywood.

Yuri Bezmenov explained in detail that this exact thing was happening when he defected from the KGB in the 70's. You can watch a bunch of his interviews on YouTube. Professors were/are a prime target.
Basically he explained how there was a long-term communist plot to recruit professors to turn colleges into socialist/communist indoctrination centers full of liberals/leftists where everyone is concerned about social justice and victimhood and splintered into this and that group. This was/is basically being done to politically destabilize the country and make communism seem appealing.
It's funny how he points out that when communism actually does take hold, these are always the first people to be lined up and shot.

Same thing happens at our uni's here in Australia. They're basically CCO indoctrination centres.

Any wonder that tertiary education curriculum is all centred around Marxist ideology and "progressivism". Our youth are being brain washed and spending princely sums on the experience.

Male an example of the traitors in our ranks.
