When the next wave of CoronaVirus-19 flares up in the United States, federal/state/local government officials will know how to fight the spread of the disease, and quickly cure those who do contract it.

President Trump wants Americans to know that there will be no need for over-reacting next time. The U.S. will remain open and functional.

President Donald Trump vowed Thursday to keep the country open in the event there’s a second wave of the novel coronavirus.

“People say that’s a very distinct possibility. It’s standard. And we’re going to put out the fires.

We’re not going to close the country.

We’re going to put out the fires,” Trump told reporters while visiting a Ford manufacturing plant in Michigan, that’s producing lifesaving materials amid the pandemic.

“Whether it’s an ember or a flame, we’re going to put it out.

But we’re not closing our country,” Trump added.

Part of what precipitated the U.S. shutting down as this initial wave began, were computer models and "experts" predicting massive U.S. death tolls, unless everyone stayed at home, or stayed 6 feet away from each other, when out in public.

But the projections for Covid-19 should be far more accurate when the next wave arrives. Thankfully, America/Americans will be prepared to deal with the virus in a proportional, appropriate manner, when that time arrives.

One can hope.

But, even if a second wave comes and we do not shut things down - the fear is already there and people will largely stay away from non-essentials. The economy is going to suffer from this for a long long time.

ETA: Also, hasn't Trump delegated all of these shutdowns to states? So, is he planning to take control now in this 2nd wave?

When the 2nd wave hits, Dems will blame all deaths on Trump - ALL. At the same time, they will ban any known vaccines and shut all hospitals so as to ensure they have proof of Trumps body count - because TDS is real folks.

The Democrats will literally burn the US to the ground if they can't cheat their way into the oval office again.

This personal little assessment of mine is based on precedent.

He also said it would go away and wasn't a problem. He says lots of doubtful stuff (like the sound of windmills causes cancer). He is silly.

I don't think "the fear will be there" for people outside of major cities. And even in major metro areas, 90% of the deaths were people over age 60.

Correct: President Trump allowed each state to determine when it shut down, and also when it re-opens.

Republicans didn't blame the second (and subsequent) waves of H1N1 Swine Flu on Obama.

Democrats are cruel and selfish, but they wouldn't stoop so low as to blame the next round of Covid-19 deaths on President Trump, IMO. Nobody would believe them.

Why should it?

The banks and corporations have been satiated once again, no need to overreact anymore.

The Federal Reserve is now the most powerful central bank in the world and they're buying up EVERYTHING.

Soo...

They got what they wanted once again at the expense of our children's futures.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

In my various personae across the interwebz I've been discoursing about the inefficacy of the modeling to date and the tendency of scientific 'specialists' to treat the math as a black box. So yes, I'd like to get my hands on the models and the data and see exactly what's f--ed up.

HOWEVER, the urgent concern is the possibility that the 'second wave' of COVID-19 won't be anything of the sort.
It may be an entirely 'new' biological mutation. IF this is war consider the possibility of an intentional release into the general population. It would be peculiar for an accidental release at this point in time. Too many coincidences.

Well, you can't "fundamentally change" America if you haven't burnt it down to the ground first.

The Saul-Alinski playbook... a required read by modern Democratic leaders.

So yea... this has been going on for far longer then the virus has.

It just turned out to be a manufactured crisis too good to waste.

The timing of social distancing can have an exponential effect on the death toll of the coronavirus, epidemiologists Britta L. Jewell and Nicholas P. Jewell recently wrote in The New York Times.

The White House started issuing social-distancing guidelines on March 16, more than two weeks after the first COVID-19 related death. However, an estimated 90% percent of coronavirus deaths in the US could have possibly been avoided if social distancing began March 2, according to the two health experts.

If social-distancing measures had been implemented on March 9, a week earlier, the move would have reduced the death toll by an estimated 60%, the report said. And in New York City, the site of the country's largest outbreak, deaths could have decreased 50% to 80% if stay-at-home orders had been implemented on March 2.

Comparisons of states like Kentucky and Tennessee, which implemented safety precautions just days apart, showed that Kentucky's actions prevented more deaths than Tennesse, which was less than a week behind in ramping up social-distancing efforts, according to the epidemiologist's findings.

www.businessinsider.com...

Sorry to rain on the "Dems bad, Trump good" party but that's all these threads ever amount to.

Trump said he wont shut it down again, hurray Trump for the win.

Dems will say this and that, point fingers. Dems will blame it on Trump. Dems cruel, selfish.

Ironically, I truly don't affiliate as Dem or anything these days but that's all this really is, just like the thread before it and the one after it. Pick news agreeable to majority cause, spin it favorably, conspire about other side.

For all that I know, business insider could be a liberal news outlet and I just perpetuated the cycle. Ignorance is bliss even for a moment, lol.

When the 2nd wave hits,

There won't be a second wave. This virus, as serious as it is, was really not that serious.

The deaths contributed to covid are not realistic in any way, shape, or form. Falsified data has been used to determine cause of death on any individual that died and tested positive for covid.

It's a state level money grab. More covid = more federal dollars.

In addition, as per the CDC directive on 3/23/2020, some who died were "presumed" to have had Covid-19.

Cheers.

When Trump said that the virus would just go away,

I warned that it was likely that the virus would have killed 100,000 Americans by Sunday 24 May.

That is two days away and the current US death toll is 94,702,

It clearly has not gone away.

Silly, of me, though, eh.
