TASS, RUSSIAN NEWS AGENCY.

"MOSCOW, May 12. /TASS/. Engines based on new physical principles will be required for humans’ fast-speed movements in outer space, Roscosmos Executive Director for Long-Term Programs and Science Alexander Bloshenko told TASS on Tuesday.

The current technology level definitely does not allow Earthlings to make interstellar journeys: the maximum speeds available to humans today make a thousandth of a percent of the speed of light, he said.
"The issue of radically increasing the speed of movement in outer space can be resolved through the development of engines based on new physical principles," the Roscosmos official said.
It is quite probable that the issue of interstellar movements will be resolved "during our lifetime," he added.

Today all the attempts to develop engines based on new physical principles, including, for example, the EmDrive, which is much talked about, have not yielded the results that go beyond the experimental error, he said."

Yeah.
Rockets are very limited. Everybody knows that.

New physics are what's needed. But then, things like laser driven light sails are not new physics. Just very difficult ones.

Technological solutions we don't have right now = Science Fiction.

We need Science Fiction!

Some of us are older than others, but I'm very skeptical of that assertion.

Unfortunately it will remain science fiction for aeons to come.

It really just comes down to the simple fact we need warp drive technology, but we're very unlikely to get that any time soon even if someone knows how to create a warp drive. Warp drives will allow illegal items to be transported very long distances and be almost undetectable. More importantly, having fine control over a device capable of warping space-time could potentially allow for time travel into the past and/or future, as I've discussed in past threads. So until we're willing to live with such technology it will remain classified.

How did this number come about? It's approximately 3 km per hour. We don't walk into space. The meaning must be 10%.

We need no engines. We need another fueless way....

Quit thinkin' in the box....it's crumbling

Yeah, and I'm guessing "UFO's" don't need running lights...and if you see lights? It's ours....

Engines? We're waaaaaaaay beyond that now....

I as well believe we need to not pro-pulse thru space, but to be "drawn" to locations, not "pushed"

Speed of light = approx 300000000 metres per second.
Speed of light = approx 18000000000 metres per minute
Speed of light = approx 1080,000,000 km/hour

1% = 10,800,000 km/hour

1/1000th of 1% = 10,800 km/hour. or about Mach 8.75.

Learn some math please.
