Libertarians need to pick someone who thinks it's more than just legal hookers and weed piled on top of government free stuff. Someone who thinks that isn't a libertarian; they're a libertine who wants the government to subsidize their vices.

I'd say a vast majority of libertarians think those items are very low on the list.

Yeah, I mean, legal hookers and weed are just a bonus!....

I joke here as, though I definitively can’t speak for all of those who are Libertarian or libertarian leaning, I think the comment about weed and hookers is just a slight to minimize the legitimacy of Libertarians.

Reality is, I’m not in a position to be the arbiter of morality or what someone wants to put in or do with their body. It’s not my place or the governments. In your example, the war on drugs come to mind. I don’t want to do heroin but if someone else wants to that’s their choice and they can suffer the health and financial consequences of their choices.

That stance doesn’t mean I think heroin is a great idea to consume or that I support heroin consumption. It means that it’s not my body/life and I’m not going to tell someone what they can or can’t do.

We haven’t had Libertarian candidate who can actually articulate that message in a way that lands with the masses. Probably won’t any time soon...

I got to thinking about the Joe Biden situation, and all of those who still endorse or "look past" what may have happened and it dawned on me...

Liberalism is just a liability shield for the wealthy or powerful.

For instance, this article poses some reasonable questions about how Biden will be treated relative to other prominent individuals who have been caught up in #metoo era.

www.city-journal.org... _wcB

I use that to illustrate a point... because he's a liberal it's OK. He gets a pass.

No different than Obama in regards to Flynn. He's a liberal, so it's OK...

www.foxnews.com...

Think about the wealthy people who are liberals. Ever step back and think "gee, that person seems to be very successful/lives in a mansion/etc. but they're a liberal - seems to go against their own self-interests..." Which is exactly the point - it's a sham. It makes people think "oh they're wealthy but they care about people" and "look at all the good they do". It's the evil conservatives who don't apologize for being capitalists or supporters of self-reliance who are the ones in the wrong.

So, if you're wealthy, best thing you can do is support the liberal narrative publicly, show you're "on board" with their agenda so the media leaves you alone (or makes you a champion of a cause) and when you then go do some really, really shady stuff - you get a pass... why? The media's full of liberals... and you tow the line 99% of the time/forward their agenda so when you find yourself in hot water they'll let it slide - or actually help you get out of the jam!

Thus, liberalism a type liability shield for the wealthy and powerful people who want to oppress you. They don't actually care about people, they care about the illusion and the protection the leftist viewpoint affords them.

Thoughts? I'm sure there are truly the "liberal" minded people - i think about hippies for instance - who buy into the Lib agenda fully. I'm saying that the very wealthy/powerful people who are also liberals are hiding behind the Lib facade - and it works.

Nice wright up mate, it is always comforting to know there are people who see things for who and what they truely are.

Another thing about " Liberals " that has always perplexed me is there hate for Capitalism, the People behind these corporations e.g. Google, Facebook etc etc Also individuals such as Bernie Sanders , Hillary and so on have all made there fortunes and Built there seemingly indestructible Corporations using a foundation of True Capitalism .

They make it to the top and then they paint them selves with this Socialist brush and Piss on the very system that made them, it is because of this Great nation that they have there little soap box to stand on.

Your quite right Enigma it is a Liability Shield , they step on who ever they must to make it and then they hide behind the Liberal smoke screen.
