Asteroid 2020 JJ made a close pass by earth, coming within 7000 km (4350 miles) . Most disturbing aspect is that asteroid was not spotted until
it was at closest approach past earth

Estimated to be size of a truck , it was not picked up by the MT Lemmon observatory in Arizonia on its way in

Those of you remember the Chelyabinsk asteroid of 2013, which was estimated at 20 meters (65 feet) exploded in the upper atmosphere
with a force of 500 kt. Thousands of windows were shattered and hundreds of people injured, most cut by glass

It wasn't that big, most of it would have broken up when it hit our atmosphere. When a mile-wide asteroid actually hits our planet I'll pay more attention.

Tonight is a meteor shower. The bad news is it is also a supermoon. This will be the last supermoon of 2020. The meteor shower is from debris left behind by Haley's Comet.

Sorry you are disappointed.

Still time left, maybe the next one.

Wasn’t even the closest one in a series over past couple days. Still not close enough to warrant dark red on ol Tony Phillips charts but neat to think of how much we will never see

Maybe they tried to warn us but we weren't listening?
