Like striking up a convo with a random stranger at a bar. Soon, they will reopen bars. Everyone will be sitting so far apart, you won’t be able to hear anything they are saying.

GOD I miss beer on tap....

Democrat leaders know the lockdown is doing more harm than the virus. They knew this early on and that is what they wanted. Hurt Trump as much as possible and try to get their hands on as much Federal money as possible.

It's backfiring though. People on both sides are starting to see through it. It's going to end up costing the governors and mayors doing this their next election.

It’s not just Democratic governors. My state has a republican governor. Our lockdown was supposed to end at the end of April. But we had a whole whopping 6500 infections with 304 deaths. So he extended it. Does that make any sense?

ALL the governors are in on it. This goes deeper than Trump. He is just a byproduct.

We've gotten rid of 20 lazy people and replaced them with 19 people who want jobs. As an essential business, if you don't have the Kung Flu, are not taking care someone with it, or are not having to stay home with a child then you don't get to stay home. These people were watching the media and listening to the loud mouths so they thought they could just stay home and collect unemployment. How unfortunate for them that we've got a number to call for false unemployment claims.

I seem to recall a post about AOC pleading with individuals to not return to work in protest. I laughed out loud. Oh here it is www.abovetopsecret.com...

A Michigan pilot summed it up rather succintly.

The governors you are referring to are in on the hoax.

They do not care about you or your well being.

All they care about is Democrats gaining power back in November 2020.

They will try and keep this manufactured crisis going until there is mail in voting or the election has occurred.

If they can't rig the election they will punish the American people further for voting the wrong way in 2016.

My prediction was May 1st for people to start to get restless. I think the governors doing the ‘add another couple weeks’ is quelling Social unrest.

Just a couple more weeks....
Repeat
Repeat
Repeat

New prediction: if even half the states are still on lockdown for Memorial Day weekend — expect that to be the true beginning of discord. This will mark the second holiday in a row on lockdown.

Supposedly Oregon extended theirs to July 6th. WTF is that!!! Sounds like it was deliberate. 3 holidays for them. Glad I don’t live there anymore.

It may hurt the Democratic Party as a whole.

What we are seeing from mostly Democratic Governors is a deep desire to control the daily lives of all citizens, a deep desire for fascist control of the population, an anti-liberty mindset and a deeply anti-humanitarian outlook (see my OP)

The people of the US see this and are beginning to put the Democratic Party as a whole within the same mindset since it is clearly what mostly Democrats are doing to their people.

Despite media propaganda, which most Americans realize now is propaganda and rarely the truth -

a lot of people are waking up to see the true heart and soul and deep desire of the Democratic Party

and it is not pretty.

By then even the die hard anti-liberty sycophants will be chomping at the bit and blaming the Democratic Party!

Thing is, if you read the entire article he is a liberal and progressive. So that makes the quote even more poignant.

One thing that a lot of people are missing. The majority of States Constitutions allow the Governor to declare an emergency and gives him broad powers during that emergency. The problem is that it also puts a time limit on the emergency, usually thirty days. After that time the Governor is supposed to go to the Legislature and have those powers extended. That isn't happening and that's the main problem.

Good point. These Governors are choosing to become Dictators.

Whitmer has scolded her legislature for trying to stop her and refused to sign the bills they passed to attempt to end her reign as dictator. Not only that but her response to the people wanting the draconian anti-liberty orders ended was to extend them to punish the people for questioning her. This has been watched by people all over the US as an example of what the Democratic Party is capable of once in full power. Scary for sure!

The Governors who are choosing Dictatorship had better watch out. Americans love their freedom and their liberty and hate/loathe Dictators with a deep and abiding passion.

To bad the Democratic Party is supporting Dictatorship, anti-liberty and anti-humanitarianism in these states, it will come back and bite them horribly come November I think. What is really sad is that in my youth the Democratic Party WAS all about freedom and liberty, WAS all about compassion for the people. Now that they have turned deeply socialist, this has radically changed, and the nation sees it clearly through their actions that don't match their claim that they care about the people.

This is why I USED to be a liberal, because it once upon a time, stood for liberty, freedom, the right to choose (not just abortion), the right to speak up, freedom of speech, and true compassion for the people. Somehow that has been lost and they have moved into a deeply socialist mindset that totalitarianism is the best way to "take care of the people" because only the elite political class know what is best for the people.

I find it ironic that the same group who basically said "if you don't like a law, don't obey it" are the ones using the force of law to make people comply with their demands.

That was the old days when the Democratic Party was for Democracy and not socialist control over the population.

When they say power corrupts, it is the truth. When they say power corrupts absolutely - just look at the Governors turned Dictators in the US who are very strict totalitarians and allowing the populace little to no freedom or liberty.

For power and money people will quickly decide they are the only ones smart enough to tell everyone else how they "must" live their lives. So sad compared to what the Democratic Party used to be when I was younger.

The time has come to address the human toll that restricting the liberty of the citizenry of the US by forcing many to stay isolated and highly restricting their movements has had. For too long now the human toll has been totally ignored...

That time was a long time ago, and it's also been totally ignored by those who want to make political hay out of this, and that includes right here on ATS. I've been screaming about this for weeks at least right here on ATS, with little regard from other ATSers.

I'm very glad you wrote this. I'm very glad this is finally being focused on here. It's about damn time. But it never should have taken so long, and I see even now the determination to make it political and blame the "blue" governors. (Hint: Red Governors did the same thing). I see no genuine concern or regard or respect for the people hurting.

Everyone needs to ask themselves how they got so distracted by party politics that they ignored the humanity. Because if this is just another political football to get the "other guy," then it's no better than ignoring it all.
