Canada Bans 1,500 Types of Assault Weapons

Here is the official list of the 1,500 weapons being banned in Canada:

The list is almost 70 pages. A great observation might be, how did such an extensive list get put together in less than two weeks since the NS shooting?
I am guessing it was in place for some time just waiting for the proper conditions.

There will be some Grandfathering under certain provisions. Perhaps some compensation. April 2022 is the deadline to be in compliance.

The usual suspects are jubilant of course. A lock down and gun confiscation all at the same time! How much better could it get?!?!

And yet looking at that list if I lived in Canada I could still own a KelTec RDB, which is just about the exact same thing as any other AR out there.

Except Canadians aren't allowed to own a gun for defense and if one shot one on their own property in self defense it would be a manslaughter charge in the very least...also, they tried a long time ago to have a registry for all long gun owners but that went away as soon as it began... and so it begins...

That was my thought too, but I figured....

why bother

I'm not much of a gun enthusiast, but it not like assualt weapons are a commodity here. Apparently there a couple million guns, legally in Canada, but they aren't assualt weapons. I dont doubt that there are some here, and they were never really legal in the first place.

This was in the works already, before the SHTF, the Nova Scotia shooting just kicked it into overdrive..not cool, knee jerk
