You have a very "glass is half full" attitude about NK. Me, not so much.

The Chinese/NK military machine will silence a woman within a week of her coronation!

These folks have no mercy, and they don't care. NO woman will ever lead NK!! Period.

They will silence her if that is what China wants. The reality though, they can use her to be the fall guy, to denuclearize NK. Then give her a way out to step down to let the military maintain control, while de-escalating the situation. The power structure is still maintained, relations are relaxed, China maintains control, NK power maintains control, and now they have better relations with the West, but not too close. Stabilizes NK, makes them a better neighbor for anyone.

It can go the way you said, but it can also go the way I said. We will see, anything can happen there. So at this point its all just speculation.

The only thing China wants to "de-nuclearize" about NK is NK's sordid, non-functional and dangerous nukes! China would love nothing better than to proliferate NK with next-gen Chinese nukes! They would love nothing better than to populate southern NK with forward airbases for their next-gen fighters and bombers.

China doesn't want peace, unless it's on THEIR terms. Just look at China's posture in the S. China Sea...what they want is a deterrent! They want FEAR. Relentless pressure...forever! They won't stop. China isn't going to start a war, but they're posturing themselves to finish one!

Never underestimate the Chinese!

ETA - Chinese "war" doctrine has been the go-to resource of warriors for thousands of years. They don't win 'battles', but they always win "wars". Just look at history.

China is in real trouble , they are getting a second wave, they have closed down all the news coming out. Because they don't want to appear weak when they are. Their food production is poor which means internal problems. Whatever they do in NK it will be the least energy option. The CCP goons will be considered the new SS and when the real trouble starts they will be targets. Its all about food. You cant weld everyone inside apartment blocks forever.

Lol, what an dumb, outdated and needless opinion. Comparing America to north Korea for its treatment of women in society? Like comparing apples to durian fruit. It’s more important to some I suppose what’s between their legs (or not) than anything else.

Were the boys that mean in the military?

If she ascends to power I think there will be quite a few executions to get the point across.

Question is, how cut throat is she?

For a woman to rise to and hold power in a traditional Asian culture, she would have to be 10x more ruthless than anything we've seen out Lil' Kim. You think it was bad he fed people to his dogs? You ain't seen nothin' yet if she gets into power and stays there. She more or less has to. That's just going by reading about those few women who did manage to obtain and hold power in that region in the past.

Yea, look how murderous Wu Zeitan or whatever her name was ended up being. Like Cleopatra, she would slaughter her own family if any member looked at her crooked, not to mention anyone with a distant royal relation who went anywhere near the capital or forbidden city.

She apparently murdered her own newborn to blame it on another concubine and rise in power. That’s some evil stuff right there.

North Korea won't collapse if Kim Jon-un has died. The ruling elites may fight amongst themselves, but a leader will appear and the cull any dissent.

Sadly, a re-unified Korea remains a pipe dream. China would not want a successful democratic Korea on their doorstep, so will do everything they can to perpetuate North Korea’s continuance. China wants a North Korean vassal state to proliferate mayhem and uncertainty and will continue pretend to be displeased every time NK fires off a rocket or tests a nuke.
