AOC: A Perfect Example of the Failures of 'Higher' Education?

Yes, another AOC thread!!!!

Well kind of, really I have been asking this question for a while now and I feel this is the perfect modern example of higher education, and it's seeming failure to actually educate; it seems more accurate to call it higher indoctrination. AOC attended Boston University if I remember correctly (fact check that), which again from my previous knowledge is a fairly prestigious university. In addition to this, AOC received a degree in economics (Not sure if it was a BA, or BS degree) and graduated. Yes that is right, ECONOMICS.

So here is my question/point of contention; there are really only two possible outcomes that logically explain the behavior of AOC and her seemingly imbecilic intellect.

1) She is actually very intelligent, and is feigning this 'ditsy' entitled moron (Tucker Carlson's words lol) to play the role while pushing a socialist agenda by any means necessary.

2) Boston University utterly failed in it's Economics program and apparently anyone who can pour a drink and pay the tuition will get the degree. This in turn leads to the thought that such higher education is a complete lie and a ponzi scheme at best, or a socialist indoctrination apparatus at worst.

The reason I say this is I too have a B.S. degree in Economics from the University of Missouri, which while still a great school is probably not as prestigious as Boston University. So on a World view scale, her degree would hold more weight than mine simply because of it's origins. HOWEVER, even a high school educated individual would know more about how the economy works than she does. Between her Amazon blunder and current comments applauding the potential loss of 10 million blue collar jobs, not to mention her other ridiculous comments on the economy since she took office, it seems she has absolutely zero working knowledge of what the economy, or even what a 'market,' is.

So which is it? Is she feigning the ignorance, or is our higher education system utterly useless now? Perhaps now higher education now means getting 'high' on your own virtues and narcissism? I know common sense left the building years ago when Obama got elected, but I guess now actual education is no longer taught?

On a personal note I hope it is answer #1, because at least then we still have hope for our future generations.....

Quite the contrary!
She excelled in all her socialist indoctrination classes!
This is what woke college is all about.
Grades are relative.

I think she understands economics very well.

I think she also is aware that to "fundamentally transform" America then the economy needs to be broken, our services overwhelmed and as many as possible as dependent as possible on a vast over-reaching government.

She's not stupid... she just has goals that are not in the average American citizen's best interest.

But she thinks those goals are not only noble, but that they will help more people in the long run.

She's a zealot in the cult of Socialism.

She is a reflection of the low aptitude voters in her district, many of which who do not speak English at home. Bitter, angry people who refuse to learn the language and gel into society. Hates US companies, hates the military, hates rural America. Hates anyone white who achieved any success in life.

I don't think this is entirely fair to her.
Having dealt with many countless college graduates for years now in my job, I can honestly say that about 3/4 of these kids are nothing more than a cash cow for universities.

I get tired of seeing business and economic degrees come across my desk.
They are weeded out by a testing system my clients have developed. You should see their faces when I tell them they have to leave their phones in the other room... Priceless.

The Ivy League education is a shadow of the past as well. Way too many kids get in based on legacy.

As for aoc...i don't believe she is stupid.
Naive...yes
A puppet...yes
She is a face applied to a product because a personality gets elected over ideas.

Why couldn't she find a real job with a college degree at almost 30 yrs old. Obviously nobody wanted to hire her. I seriously doubt she ran home and celebrated with her family on getting the bar job. Willing to bet she faced rejection after rejection meaning she got beat out for jobs by people a lot smarter than her.

Unfortunately this isn't far from the truth.

After I got out of the Air Force in 2016 I decided to go to college on the GI Bill. I'm going for a BA in International Politics from Penn State.

The academic standards are a joke. My high school classes were harder. Standards have been dumbed down to the point where if you show up, it's almost impossible to fail. It's everybody gets a degree, so the degrees are really meaningless. Anyone can get one. And liberal ideology seeps its way into almost every class, even ones that have nothing to do with politics (some of my electives were in things like anthropology or world religions, and it's still there.)

Our universities are nothing but paid indoctrination centers. You don't leave them with an education, save for some of the STEM fields, where you actually have to put a serious effort in.

She has no say over the economics of the US.

Oh, and now you mention it, how's that going for ya at the moment?

Her degree was in international relations and economics.

I am amazed at how little skill she displays in either. Her tweet saying she "loves to see it" as millions of jobs are eradicated in mere minutes either betrays her understanding of economics, or informs it.

Take your pick.

A politician. A person in a position of power. Someone who is in charge of making decisions and influencing society.

You're just making fun of people for hurting economically.

You're a piece of #.

When asked on that PBS show about Israel she said she didn't know anything about Israel. Didn't have a clue on one of the most important international players.

It's actually dunking on higher education. If AOC is an example of what Boston College churns out of its school with an Econ Degree, then we're in trouble. She has no clue how an economy works. Like it or not, the economy works the same whether or not it's a free market or one that's centrally planned. The realities will be the same.

I'm not an American.

But I do feel for the American citizens who are in a worsening financial situation.

Can you explain to me how the partisan BS such as this thread, actually betters their predicament?

Perhaps if you attended to the actual causes of the current situations, then you could do something about it, as a good patriotic citizen?

"I'm not an American."

You are not an American so no need to explain anything to you.

I don't think you are actually looking for a honest discussion but only looking to troll.

He has nothing of value to contribute, that's for sure. It's been a while since I've seen him say anything of merit in any thread. He's always just trying to look witty and coming off like an asshole. I'm sure he thinks it's cool to be an asshole. It can be, just not the kind of asshole he is.

For someone who hides behind "I'm not an American" every time he gets confronted about anything, he sure does like to comment on threads about American politics.
