My spouse won't watch gay sex. I don't want to see any blatant sex because it has been so over-shown on TV and in movies it has become boring. We know what is going to happen when two people get in bed together and wake up together. Showing it has become so blase and the lazy writers way of not having to write good dialog or a good story. So I get bored with the tedious, story devoid constant sex and turn it off. My husband immediately turns of shows with gay sex and won't watch another episode, gay characters, fine, gay sex, he won't watch again. Call him a homophobe for not wanting to watch something that repulses him, that's your right. Call me a prude for being board with sex as a replacement for storytelling and dialog, that's your right.
So it sounds like a majority of your dislike is due to sex scenes, straight and gay.
Im trying to think the last time I was in a theater and saw a gratuitous sex scene.
I know movies like "Revenge of the Nerds" "Porkys" "Stripes" had some raunch in the 80's...
I actually can't remember a gay love making scene in any movie Ive seen in a long time.
Why are you choosing to watch a lot of skin flicks, including gay sex movies if they are not your thing?
Darlin, I'm talking about prime time TV and Netflix shows and Hulu shows, etc.
Ha ha, your idea of porn is different from mine, that is perfectly ok.
Open your eyes, blatant sex scenes are all over evening TV scripted shows. Netflix and other sources have tons of blatant sex scenes that are a replacement for storytelling and dialog.
I just think the writers these days are downright lazy and mistake a sex scene for good writing and frankly the scenes are so predictable and so identical to each other they are boring - to me at least.
You can love it all, that's ok with me. Not trying to stop anyone else. I just see it as lazy writing and devoid of story telling.
I object to the foulest language possible in nearly every sentence uttered, it is offensive to me. Not offensive to you, fine. Again I also see it as lazy, very very lazy writing.
I always told my Univ. students that the constant use of foul language indicates a mind devoid of a decent vocabulary or intellect. But that is what prime time is, isn't it? It is designed to appeal to those with tiny vocabularies and who can not comprehend good writing or dialog, so sad.
You see things the way you want to, that's fine. I'll express my opinion and see them the way I want to, and that should be ok with you, if it isn't, too bad.

Actor-director Mel Gibson continually pounds Hollywood for being a cesspool, but he never offers any proof.
That's a big problem with a lot of the accusations being tossed around.

I automatically discount and ignore people who abuse the caps button but they are nowhere near as bad as the people who post everything in one giant block of text because they are too stupid to make proper paragraphs.
Hollywood is a low-imagination wonderland filled with sycophants and gorgeous users but there's also waitstaff who write brilliant screenplays in their off-hours, musicians who make cool records no one else has heard of yet and other beautiful, creative dreamers.
In a world filled to the brim with bitter drop-outs, wannabe internet revolutionaries and other online trash, I'll take a make-up artist, grip or gaffer any day of the week.
I can certainly vouch for the musicians. This is the only forum I post on outside of musician forums and over the last 25 years have made some great friendships with musicians around the world thanks to the internet. There’s a core group of friends who live and work in LA and while many have started up successful YouTube channels (Pete Thorn and Tim Pierce have OUTSTANDING channels you may dig), they’re main source of income comes from touring and studio sessions. In Tim’s case, the guy has played on thousands of albums over the years. It’s safe to say that *everyone* has heard Tim’s playing unless you honestly live under as rock. But even the lesser known guys out there, it’s just the same for them and they’re taking harder hits because they can’t fall back on a YouTube channel or online lessons that fill up due to their smaller billing.
I got defensive several times on here when I saw some members claiming musicians were the last group of people to deserve unemployment/assistance during this. For the musicians who have actually learned how to keep their bills paid by playing an instrument, I’ve got nothing but the utmost respect. For over 20 years I worked at it and had years of ups and downs in the business (mostly because I’m stubborn and refused to play outside of the metal genre) and finally threw in the towel when I bought a house and got married at 36. (Funnily enough, I’m more content now with my home studio and good paying job)
Nashville is another place where musicians are taking a huge hit. While there are still several large studios in LA, Nashville has become the hotbed for musicians in the last 15 years. A majority of the A-league musicians these days all travel to Nashville to get their recording done.
And that’s not even getting into the symphonic aspect of it, I’m just talking about guitarists, drummers, bassists, etc.
At the end of the day, those guys can all record themselves at home and send it to a producer or musician they’re working for, if you’re in an orchestra you’re f*cked. I’ve yet to hear of one orchestra doing any kind of long distance work. It’s practically impossible unless everyone had the same quality studio and knowledge of recording gear and even then, it’d take forever for someone to take all those individual files and bounce them into a project, as they’re generally recorded in large groups, not single takes. That’s also part of the reason synths and VST’s have become the new norm for soundtracks in the last 30 years.

I would disagree with that. Sure, there are some that can do remarkable productions with little money, but to me the professionalism of an experienced crew with equipment is really noticeable.
The actual actors and their usually weird versions of reality is a whole other story.

I am sure the Hollywood scriptwriters and their production company backers are already working on a mass of movies ready to be rolled out as soon as restrictions are lifted.
Get ready for, and this is just an example (though probable), the new blockbuster featuring some aging pumped up musclebound actor, playing the usual ex CIA / SEAL / Secret Service type with a plot along the lines of the following:
USA hit by new Flu-like bio weapon, found to be a covert release by those pesky ChiComms!
Dropped behind the lines into China, he'll have to infiltrate a high level Chinese bio-lab to steal the only known antidote. After despatching half the Chinese Military forces (half of those armed only with a pair of chopsticks) he escapes across the border into North Korea, heading to South Korea to drop the antidote to the waiting fighter aircraft that will fly it directly to the USA.
An unfortunate encounter along the way with some very lucky North Koreans sees him captured and tortured, by none other than Lil' Kimmy himself, as Eyeranian advisors flown in from Syria oversee the torture of our hero!
His SF training inevitably kicks in and, after despatching Kimmy, the Eyeranians and blowing up half the country he eventually makes it through the DMZ, bloodied and battered, to hand over the antidote, to the cheers of everyone on the base! Oh, and they'll probably have the presidents daughter and one of his family members at death's door too, just for dramatic effect.
Come on now! Ya'll know this is gonna happen!

Yeah King Gizzard and Kraftwerk, both at Red Rocks, a true world famous venue, gone...maybe Gizzard will come back but probably not Kraftwerk...dang it! - figured it would be the last time they came around.
If they let sports back artistic endeavors like bands in studio should be allowed back in the least - I mean you can control some spacing in a studio.
