From our "friends" (with friends like this, who TF needs enemies?) at the World Health Organization...
www.marketwatch.com... testnews

The World Health Organization is warning that drinking alcohol makes people more susceptible to the coronavirus, and is urging governments to uphold, or even strengthen, restrictions on buying booze.

In a statement this week, WHO’s Regional Office for Europe said that alcohol consumption “compromises the body’s immune system and increases the risk of adverse health outcomes. Therefore, people should minimize their alcohol consumption at any time, and particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

They went further and, in doing so, exposed a bit more of their ass then I suspect they intended to...

“Alcohol is responsible for 3 million deaths a year worldwide,” WHO said. “Existing rules and regulations to protect health and reduce harm caused by alcohol, such as restricting access, should be upheld and even reinforced during the COVID-19 pandemic and emergency situations.”

“During the COVID-19 pandemic, we should really ask ourselves what risks we are taking in leaving people under lockdown in their homes with a substance that is harmful both in terms of their health and the effects of their behavior on others, including violence,” Carina Ferreira-Borges, WHO Europe’s program manager for alcohol and illicit drugs, said in a statement.

"Never let a good crisis go to waste"
-Progressive Stooge Rahm Emanuel

So, place your bets now... which authoritarian dipsnip fascist wannabe governor or liberal #hole mayor in the US will be the first to pick up this ball from the WHO (TF cares what WHO thinks?) and run it across the goal line, shuttering alcohol sales in their state or city to, once again, save allegedly free adults from their own ability to make decisions? A question to go along with that one, is there a state or city in the USA that loves their booze that won't turn such an action into a reason to go hog on their local city council, whatever cops are unlucky enough to be ordered to enforce this nonsense, or the governor's mansion where their resident fascist rests his or her perfectly manicured little fascist head each night?

They've said obesity is a comorbidity with COVID as well, I'm sure WHO will soon urge political leaders to close fast food drive throughs and embargo soda pop and snack cakes before long.

But yeah, let's go ahead and be good little brainless sheep and remember we're saving so many lives.

ETA: Before some wannabe smartass pops off about addiction or what have you, I don't drink. This is one of those actions that wouldn't directly impact me if taken... it would simply be an affront to anyone who values liberty and self responsibility. Yes, it is entirely possible to champion rights and liberties that don't directly impact you (which is why scores of white Americans fought tooth and nail to secure equal rights for blacks in the US among other things.)

Why don't we ask the WHO how many deaths does poverty cause?

Keeping things shut down and killing the world economy will makes the deaths from whatever this thing is look like a walk in the park.

The WHO is a puppet front group of the IMF, which operates like the world's loan shark, so I have no doubt the WHO is salivating at the possibility of every country following their plans and ending up with their hand out down the road. All the IMF crap really does is take the money from a country's haves to give a portion of it to that country's have-nots while kicking the rest of what they steal over to the World Bank... then, obviously, they force the receiving country to adopt their systemic changes that reinforce global control over sovereign countries while enacting socialist internal policies turning the entire country into serfs to the global banking cartel.

So now we're telling people they can't go to church, can't assemble peacefully, can't drink, can't smoke, can't eat what they want, can't work, are guilty until proven innocent.

Just stay in your home and accept your check from the government and remember to say, "Thank you".

Did I wake up in Communist China?

Did we lose a ####ing war I was unaware of?

Now cue the people that will come on this thread about "saving lives".

What a bunch of nattering wussies our nation has become.

I see the new buzz word(s) is "Herd Immunity"

Which is exactly what we are to them.

Nevermind it though, it's not what it sounds like.

*sigh*

If it comes down to a choice between living in some police-state communist safety-net and being gorked on a ventilator. . . . then grab the Versed.

Ah hell it might be reverse psychology because I don’t drink and I immediately wanted to buy a case just to buck the system. Budweiser’s behind, I just know it.

W.H.O. the hell do they think they are?

"Invisible enemy" indeed.
This isn't a virus.
It's a Trojan Horse.

I've got access to materials and all the knowledge and experience I need to have moonshine, wine, and beer sold out of the back of my SUV by the middle of May if Alaska were to enact this mandate. Laws only matter to me to the point where they make sense, any that don't I don't worry about... this would certainly fall in that category.

If the WHO convinces state, county or city government to ban alcohol I cannot vouch for the safety of the hubs. They could be criminally liable for what happens as a result.

It’s proceeding as planned. Back when the Spanish, flu hit in the 20th century, I read up on history, the world did not shut the economy down. Also the economical effects were short term. Retail sales cut in half etc. also the hourly wages for manufacturing went up due to the lack of manpower etc. I am not sure, how to make sense of the 2020, pandemic, aside from the political over reaction election year, etc and the fear of wide spread litigations. I don’t think a miracle vaccine is going to appear in a year or so, CONCIDERING the virus is constantly mutating, we knew of this months ago.

The catch, is if we open the economy back up, Willie nillie, their will be a 2nd wave and yup, you guessed it governments will be blamed, and litigations. So now these idiots have to come up with ways to try to control a virus, aka the citizens.

By the time we pull our heads out of the sand this economy will be decimated, all the big corporations will survive, but most small buisnesses will be gone, in the retail side of our country, to be honest they were about choked out of the Economy already. Service, buisnesses effected barbers, salons etc most wont come back. Have not even gone into the housing market. The government is trying to turn socialist also under the veil of this pandemic... I realized after 2008 we are not in a free capitalist economy when banks, car manufacturers etc were bailed out by the government. I don’t even think it’s socialism, either it’s a facade and a form of control, an illusion, designed to pragmatically keep us under control, to be part of a capitalistic society, really bizarre archaic form of social behavior also, using a fiat currency to keep us stimulated into believing we are suppose to spend our lives trying to use that to put ourselves into a better position by consuming. 🤷‍♂️ Then along comes covid-19.

Safe bet war comes next wanted or unwanted.

Put it away now!

The world health organization said so. Also, staring at a computer screen might intervene with your sleep patterns. So just crawl up in the corner of the room and wait for some all-knowing authority to step forward and announce that crawling up in the corner is bad for you.

To heck with all of this madness, i am having a beer with you right now. Cheers, Tundra.

won't be a problem. Governments cannot be held accountable for acts of god.

Of course, if it can be proven that this was a result of a biological weapon (released by accident or intent), that would be another story.

Put it this way if the governments starting restricting what you can and can't eat or drink, there will be an uprising from people.

I cant see the lockdown going past 9 weeks (I'm in the UK) as people will want to start getting back to a "semi-normal" way of living again. OH # the W.H.O.
