The story that always fascinated me was that of Medusa. I still remember that day (having the memory of the "Clash of the Titans" movie firmly entrenched in my memory) when I found out Pegasus actually sprung out of Medusa’s neck and that he also had another winged horse brother too.

That's some really deep story telling right there...
