This is a very odd artcile about a cruise liner off the coast of Western Australia
www.perthnow.com.au...

“The World left Fremantle four or five days ago, she’s in Geraldton doing laps, we don’t really know why she’s doing that but that’s what she’s doing … in open waters, so it’s outside our control,” the Premier said.

There are about 150 families from 19 countries who own private residences on The World, and residents can travel aboard all year or just a few months at a time.

There are 165 residences on the ship which range from studio apartments to a six-bedroom penthouse suite.

MS The World has been cruising in a star-shaped pattern off the Mid-West after leaving the waters of Fremantle earlier this week.

Trying to contact the ancient aliens that brought the virus here in the first place?

Maybe it is some kind of automated pattern to hold an approximate position. Maybe the captain and some of the crew are sick, and just put it into auto. Don't know... odd.

The concern is we may be sliding towards universal income.

Thankfully, UBI is a silly pipedream that simply cannot work... ever. Not in any society that even remotely resembles one we are familiar with.

Now, in a world where there is universally available free energy, replicators for providing nutritious food and beverage, and self-maintaining robots capable of doing all manual labor intensive jobs - maybe... just maybe, a way could be found.

it seems to be tough for some people to get rid of this virus for good.

You do realize that we all have literally billions, if not trillions, of viruses living in our bodies all the time, right?

What we should be aiming for is co-existence. This shouldn't be looked on as a war, but negotiating a peace treaty.

Block-length ambulance queues appeared on Moscow's street. Russians are posting videos of those.

TWITTER

Worldometer today says about Russia
Russia 13,584 +1,667 106 +12
Deaths total 106 and today +12

Seems like that cannot be the case, so many ambulances are waiting in queue that there must be more, doesn´t make sense.

Well, we didn't get to the top of the food chain by running in "herds" blindly.

Over the course of many years, scientists have proven that immunity via vaccination is key to longevity. Just ask polio, or smallpox...they will let us know whats up.

Somehow, I think Knut is....well, just that in this case.

Pretty sure the first thread on this was close to 500 pages, may have been just under or just over.

Anyway... whatever..

The UK's total new cases for today brings it up to 78,991 total cases and another 917 deaths bringing total deaths to 9,875.

Tmrw we will be above China in total cases (if the numbers from China are to be believed).

Not being pedantic or anything but you can have around 500 pages to a single thread... you closed the pther ones too early.

I disagree. Part 5 was exactly 4 weeks ago.

A lot has happened since then and I personally don't fancy trawling through 380 pages nevermind 500.

What difference does it make if you go through 400 on last thread and then 100 pages on this thread?? Total will still be 500.

Thank you, Agit. Been following since thread 1. Got me to prep way before the panic buying hit nyc. Really has been helpful to me and my family. Really appreciating the info and camaraderie during this crazy time. Hoping life is easier for ATS’rs who are outside of the hot zones.

Be well, everyone.

The decision to close threads at 400 or so pages is a Staff decision.
It is a site wide policy.

Now, back on topic....

And do NOT reply to this post.

Thanks.

Some... man (and I use the term loosely) slashed the tires of nurses working at a Boston hospital. They caught him. Hospital is taking care of the nurses' expenses.

Encouraging news about possible treatment Two thirds of critically ill patients improved with drug from Gilead Sciences The drug, remdisivir, is being run through trials in hospitals across the world; we should know within 50 days if it's of real use.

'''Seattle’s Army-built field hospital is coming down without treating a single patient'''

Seems little traces of more positive news are popping up all over. I'll take it.

Also, the US becomes the f irst country to record over 2,000 deaths in a single day

I looked up population statistics; the US is the third most populous country in the world.

In looking at statistics, we also need to ask "how big is the country" and "how densely populated is it".

Rural Georgia is getting hit hard and may well be the model for what happens in other rural areas (if you don't want to read the article, they have a podcast of the article.) The source of the outbreak is one man at a funeral who greeted a lot of relatives and hugged many of them.

Two hospitals (Boston and Birmingham) are using nitric oxide on an experimental basis to see if it can be used as a COVID-19 treatment. The rationale here is that nitric oxide is already used therapeutically to help increase the amount of oxygen in the blood stream.

uk figures to me seem 2k is possible here too, as all deaths reported here are at hospitals. that does not include those that have died in care homes and at home.

saw a figure from april 2019 saying 1061 died, but for april 2020 it was 1759, this could include heart attacks and other causes which could be saved from hospitals as treatment is good in these areas.

this was for the 1st week in april, cant find the data now.

but it was on the bbc news site

if you are struggling to breath or would ring your emergency service for any other condition ring 999 not 101 as they are overloaded. this is for uk

I guess same for every other country 999 is a emergency/ don't die at home when hospitals can save you

If covid-19 worked like other corona viruses, in the respect the quote below states, there wouldn't be much reason for concern about re-infection of recently infected patients who tested negative:

Can You Be Re-Infected After Recovering From Coronavirus?

With other coronavirus strains, experts say the antibodies that patients produce during infection give them immunity to the specific virus for months or even years, but researchers are still figuring out if and how that works with COVID-19.

I don't think it's known yet if it works the same way with Covid-19. Did the "re-infected" patients just have false negative tests such that they were really infected the whole time? We don't know yet, maybe, or maybe the negative tests were valid and they really got re-infected. We don't know for sure yet.
