They are, after all, nothing more than mitigation pieces for an accident. They can no more prevent deaths 100% of the time than a mask can protect from 100% of illness'.

No, but they at least do have a demonstrable positive effect, as opposed to the wearing of face masks, that only have a demonstrable negative effect on the wearer.

Everybody knows that incoming O2 molecules are filtered out by a mask.
Everybody knows that outgoing CO2 molecules are filtered in by a mask.

Masks have some very remarkable characteristics.

It all depends on how well we shut down the transmission of the Virus.
Currently, we are still in the increase of the 1st wave, just gaining strength in India/Pakistan/Bangladesh/N+S America.
Its generally going down in Europe, but increasing almost everywhere else.

I personally don't think it will go away, anytime soon.
(Mainly because Humans will be Humans...)
People still travelling the Globe, having parties, it only takes one to set it off.
It'll just keep going round and round until we're either lucky or unlucky.

Thanks MB2, the act of having to, by law, to wear a face covering when shopping is a huge shift for me to comprehend. I understand the necessity of course, scary/worrisome to think this is the new normal now for possibly years to come.

The Spanish Flu took about 2 years to run its course. I wouldn't expect it to take longer than that for COVID-19. It could still spread after that time but the worst should be over after 2 years. The SARS pandemic only took 8 months to run its course, but COVID-19 will take longer.

I think many peoples concern or reluctance to follow these new rules is there is no set end date to them, new rules thrown out with no guidance or info regards how long they might last for., its understandable people are feeling their rights to freedom are infringed (for right or wrong reasons). They in theory could last decades.

Scans Reveal Heart Damage in Over Half of COVID-19 Patients in Study

The study involved 1,216 patients, of whom 813 had been diagnosed with COVID-19, and 298 were deemed probable cases. Due to the design of the study, the remaining 105 were assumed to have COVID-19, the co-authors told Newsweek. The participants were from 69 countries across six continents. They each had an echocardiogram, a type of ultrasound scan for the heart, between April 3 and 20.

Of the total 1,216 patients, 667 (55 percent) had abnormalities in their scan and one in seven participants had what researchers described as "severe abnormalities," according to the paper published in the journal European Heart Journal - Cardiovascular Imaging.

Same thing has crossed my mind. However, in military terms that would only effect the West’s ability to invade/occupy other nations. But it wouldn’t leave Western nations open to invasion since the defence against that is merely button pushing to launch the nukes.

I think if Covid is designed for anything it’s to cripple economies, rather than the military. Targeting the economy worked on the Soviet Union in the 80s and so far such a strategy would seem to be working on the US. If trajectories stay the same it’s looking like the CCP will have a massive economic dominance over the West for many years to come.

Recent events in the U.K. have cemented in my mind the notion that Covid is indeed a part of a broader strategy by the CCP to gain influence and power. In the U.K. they’ve already been given the contract to build a major new nuclear power station and renovate another by idiot ex PM Theresa May. Meanwhile they’d won the contract to build the U.K.s infrastructure for 5G. That’s a stranglehold on the U.K.s energy and information - that’s an awesome bargaining chip to get their demands in the future and at the same time a clandestine mechanism for intel & espionage.

What made it clear to me that this is all by CCP design was their reaction this week to the U.K. governments debate on ending the CCPs contracts in the 5G roll out. It was a threat that we’ll regret it if we dump the CCP... it was a sinister, menacing message fit for a Fu Manchu movie. It made it clear that if they’re this threatening before they have control of our energy and information sectors Just imagine how threatening they’ll be once they have that control.

The next course of Action should now be painfully clear to all non-CCP controlled nations: get the CCP out of your countries infrastructure and scrutinise all other forms of presence they have in your country. They had seemed to have played a great long game, but these threats betrayed a lack of nuance and impatience which we should not be deaf to.

The U.K. hasn’t yet listened. Our current buffoon PM has dictated that the U.K. should stop buying from the CCP in December and all 5G infrastructure removed by 2027. That’s pretty pointless - they’ll simply make all their deals before December and get the infrastructure so entrenched before 2027 that the case can be made that it’s impossible, or far too expensive to rip out. Of course this infers that Boris is in hock to the CCP... he probably is, given his greed, venality and huge potential for blackmail with rumoured mistresses and love-children in every nook and cranny.

Moreover, to give the 5G debate this lip service and ignore the even more disturbing CCP construction of our nuclear power calls the whole parliamentary debate on 5G into question.

To get back on topic, Boris’ abysmal record for dealing with Covid - equalled only, perhaps by Brazil and maybe the US - makes far more sense if the CCP are calling the shots on his constantly misguided decisions, actions and statements. Whether that be true or not, there’s certainly a building case that the CCP may indeed be far more culpable than the WHO would have us believe.
