A Wisconsin voter here. I appreciate your insight.

This whole election is frustrating. Absentee ballots take forever and with various state agencies shut down or on minimum-manning, that is just exacerbated. I want to go into vote as it is a very critical duty of a citizen but I do not want to get sick or get other people sick. What a mess.

If Milwaukee has 300 polling stations but only 5 are open, how on Earth does that reconcile with epidemiological common sense?

"TUBS" of absentee ballots found in Wisconsin post offices..

The probe comes just one day after Wisconsin's US Senators, Republican Ron Johnson and Democrat Tammy Baldwin, sent a letter to the Inspector General of the US Postal Service, urging for an investigation into reports of absentee ballots that were not delivered to voters and the discovery of absentee ballots at a USPS processing center.

The letter cites three issues with Milwaukee County absentee ballots, saying in part that "three tubs of absentee ballots from Appleton and Oshkosh were discovered in USPS's Milwaukee processing center after polls closed on Tuesday" and that batches of absentee ballots requested on March 22 and 23 failed to be delivered to voters.

The third instance cited in the letter involves the village of Fox Point, which is located within Milwaukee County, that reported "that USPS returned to them multiple batches of unsent absentee ballots and they were unable to obtain an explanation from their local post office as to why they were not delivered to the voters who requested them. "

"We are concerned there may be more examples, and request that you promptly open an investigation to determine the cause of these failures, which appear to have disenfranchised many Wisconsin voters," said the senators in the letter.

Earlier today, the Governor of Wisconsin (Tony Evers-D) delayed tomorrow's state primary until June. Tonight a judge says it's back on for tomorrow. And, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that Absentee ballot extensions can no longer be allowed.

Late Monday, the Wisconsin Supreme Court insisted on maintaining an in-person coronavirus-plagued primary (and for certain offices, general election) contest for Tuesday, April 7, despite a massive shortage of poll workers and a lot of voters rightly terrified of congregating.

In so doing the Wisconsin court’s 4-2 conservative majority confirmed the wishes of the Republican-controlled legislature in this intensely polarized state, where the GOP would prefer to keep turnout limited.

A few hours later the 5-4 conservative majority on the U.S. Supreme Court delivered another win for Wisconsin Republicans by overturning a federal district judge’s effort to let voters wait for delayed absentee ballots, and put them in the mail after the statutory election-day deadline, up until April 13 (the deadline for receipt of such ballots).

As a result, Wisconsin’s much-disputed election will begin and end on April 7 after all — the only in-person statewide voting event in the entire month of April.

Wisconsin's Democratic governor and particularly the judge who forced the April 7th Democratic primary to go forward, should take personal responsibility for the (at least) 7 Covid-19 cases that have been linked directly to the in-person voting that occurred on that day.

MILWAUKEE — Officials have identified seven people who appear to have contracted the coronavirus through activities related to the April 7 election in Wisconsin, Milwaukee's health commissioner said, and advocates worry that they could be just the "tip of the iceberg."
