I think WW1 had a lot to do with the Roaring 20s than a flu.
Think history backs that up as well

US industry was pretty much untouched, if not grew because of WW1

The situation now is worse because the world population and oil production costs (which should not be confused with prices) are much higher.

WW1 had more to do with the roaring 20s. War drives innovation. When the war ended, that new technology becomes profitable in the private sector. We had the booming 50s after WW2. After the Cold War we had the tech boom of the 90s.
