I completely agree. I work in a bank who's lobbies are shut down across the board, so we're sharing phone calls from all of our communities. Even though I haven't spoken to anyone who actually has the virus, I have spoken with people who have friends/families that have it, and even a few that have lost friends because of it. One woman told me that she lost a couple friends over in the UK because they didn't take the social distancing seriously at all and now, well, they don't get that second chance. This also depends on whether or not you believe what these people tell you.

My sister-in-law and her son, who's 2 years old, also have the virus now. My wife was talking to her the other day and she most definitely said the virus is hell on her lungs, to so speak.

The Advisory Committee on Dangerous Pathogens (ACDP) is also of the opinion that COVID-19 should no longer be classified as an HCID.

The need to have a national, coordinated response remains, but this is being met by the government’s COVID-19 response.

I'm not a healthcare professional, but it's obvious enough that HCID has a specialised definition, and it would be a big mistake for a layman to interpret it as meaning "no longer dangerous". You need to find someone who understands what this change of status really means.
The SAME page that reports the change also confirms that present response is still needed.

Since violating people's Rights is popular among the masses of asses nowadays I figured nobody would object to removing the voting rights of anyone stupid enough to give up their enumerated Rights in the name of this flu. Seems fair, ya? Oh come on! It's not the bloody end of the world losing a few things just to get this virus under control! We have freedom in the UK, the same freedom in America, but we are not moaning about our "freedoms" because we know what needs to be done. Yes, it tough at times being isolated, but it's not the end of the world.

And this is not the normal flu, I do not know why you keep saying that. Chances of getting flu are slim. Ladt time I had flu, I was in my 20s, I am in my 40s now. This virus, if you are close to someone, you eill get it. And it's not just killing elderly people, it killing people in their teens, , 20s, 30s,40s etc

Yes, it's killing more elderly, which is obvious why, but it can kill anyone at any age. Also, the worst thing about this virus the way it affects your lungs and airways, which is a lot worse than the flu.

Also to add, we all know that the season flu kills thousand of people every year, but scientists have studied seasonal flu for decades, so even though it's dangerous, we know about them, and what to expect every year. But little is known about
COVID-19, and this is the danger! So they do not really know how many deaths of may cause, like they would a season flu.

COVID19 was "downgraded" because it does not meet one of the criteria required to be so classified.

In the UK, a high consequence infectious disease (HCID) is defined according to the following criteria:
acute infectious disease
typically has a high case-fatality rate
may not have effective prophylaxis or treatment
often difficult to recognise and detect rapidly
ability to spread in the community and within healthcare settings
requires an enhanced individual, population and system response to ensure it is managed effectively, efficiently and safely

In fact there is another factor involved. It is required that all cases be sent to two locations. Not going to cut it in this situation.

Once an HCID has been confirmed by appropriate laboratory testing, cases in England should be transferred rapidly to a designated HCID Treatment Centre. Occasionally, highly probable cases may be moved to an HCID Treatment Centre before laboratory results are available.

the Royal Free London High Level Isolation Unit (HLIU)

the Newcastle Royal Victoria Infirmary HLIU.

Is not a crisis? Seriously? So far 50 thousands dead, and almost a million bring infected. I am gathering you know no one who has been infected yet? Yes, people can get it, and it can be very mild, but also people can get it and die, no matter your age!
