Hi there. Came here via a Facebook link regarding some relatively bad takes on Egyptology. I'm in the final stretch of gaining an Egyptology PhD (hopefully), specialising in social life/economics, but also in linguistics (all stages of the Egyptian language) and pyramid study, relegion etc.

I do love a good conspiracy theory, and despite the fact I can usually debunk them all within minutes, they are quite entertaining.

Looking forward to meeting you all.

Does the sphinx have water erosion?

Are the great pyramids of gizeh tombs?

Welcome to the board

Sincerely NC

ATS has a forum called Scott Creighton which I believe you will find most interesting - lots of good threads about the mysteries of Egypt.

Curious, are you a member of a Freemason lodge?

Haha....straight in

1. Yes, it rains in Egypt hard, and regularly.

2. Yes. The Egyptians stated so.

I very distantly know someone who studied archeology with focus on ancient societies and she is sooooooo stupid.
I paraphrase: " I never understood why we hunt for easter eggs, they're inanimate objects" that made me so aggressive "treasure hunting! Bargain hunting! Scavenger hunt"

I hope you're smarter.

Part of the reason I joined....I saw some very questionable stuff that gentleman was posting. I just had to bite.

And no....I was invited, but as I don't carry any belief of a higher spirit, or God, or whatever you may call it, I wasn't asked to continue.

I don't quite get you, but it has been a long day.

My interest is in "peopling" ancient Egypt. How far you can go with what evidence there is? It's quite enlightening

Welcome!

If you do not mind, can you explain why there are nanoscale silica spheres in the pyramid blocks when they are not present in the stones at the quarry sites.

Hi there. Do you have any further information you can furnish me with? I've never heard anything like that before.

Its the theory that some ancient sites were constructed with geopolymers, pretty interesting stuff, i had to do experiments with them myself, was good stuff.

Also pretty cool modern uses for it too, like this airport.

I was just... being a bitch.

You know, my personal theory about Ramses II is he wasn't such a great builder and all he just put his cartouche on everything he thought was cool.
Thoughts?

From what I remember reading it's nonsense. Zero contemporary texts back up the claim, and the amount of wood needed for casting the stone is astronomical. Quarries all over Egypt, accounts of stone cutting, not a single geologist backing up the claim....I could go on. Just another one of those way-out theories that has no basis in reality.

He was involved in a fantastic battle, and the first peace treaty on record, but yes, he did slap his name onto anything he could. He did actually oversee the building of quite a bit though.

Rainfall you say... Wouldn't that erode the top more than the bottom?

Egyptianss stated so... you must have been around for a long time,

Another thing I was thinking, that famous eye of Horus the two lines might be a stylised root of the nose and lacrimal sack.
Not saying it has any implications, just noticed and was wondering if people are aware?
