A much better widlcard would be a simple, cheap treatment that would allow people to quickly make a full recovery, and if used preventatively, prevent them from becoming severe/critical in the first place.

You know... like we have right in front of us, right now...

Then we don't need to worry about vaccines for individual viruses. Kind of important, considering we have many billions, if not trillions of viruses living inside us all the time - and yet, we manage to survive, even thrive. Imagine that...
