Everyone assumes that in every place the virus will act exactly the same, kill the same numbers, infect the same numbers.

I live in a four/five county metro. We have three hot spot counties with just under 150 cases and two between 150 and 200 cases in each one. Those three counties are the densest parts of the urban core. One of them is directly connected to the county I live in with parts of it not even 10 miles away from where I sit. There are two major highways and one minor highway that run north out of downtown and all run within 15 miles of my house. One passes barely a mile away.

And yet, the county I sit in and the other three metro area counties are all right around 20 cases. Mine has about 25, might hit that by Monday. The one just west of me doesn't even have 20 yet.

The big difference by the time you get up where I am at? Things have largely transitioned to suburban life. Less apartment life and more single family. We were already socially distanced by our lifestyle anyhow.

This article points to the NYCity health officials as being ungrateful, unorganized azzholes, who have been caught in a huge lie, and looking for scapegoats, doesn't it?

The other side of that argument is as a society we all need to work togethor for us all to be happy, happy and functional.

What HHS/Trump Admin warnings are you referring to? In February Trump & Co. was downplaying the entire thing. As late as Feb 27th Trump told everyone “It’s going to disappear, one day it’s like a miracle, it will disappear.”

As late as March 6th Trump visited the CDC and called the pandemic “an unforeseen problem”, “Came out of nowhere.”

2 Days later NY started shutting stuff down and declared a State of Emergency on the 12th.

Right now NY is seeing one of the lowest day-over-day rate of new cases in the country. They're less than half DC's rate and about 1/4th that of MD & DE.

CFR = deaths. Many many get sick - really sick, but don't die. Those also have very weak immune systems.

Only a small percentage of the population has been exposed. Also, for those whose someones immune system is weak, it doesn't automatically mean they all respond the same. We are each in relatively unique circumstances based on our eating/lifestyle history - also, not all will result in the cytokine storm, which is what causes someone to get really sick.

Actually, no, it isn't. Current obesity stats and the fact that the junk food industry (fast food and junk food sales in stores) is doing so well is direct evidence to the contrary. No, what it means is this thing is fairly weak when it comes to infecting healthy people. But since it is so extremely infectious (apparently), it finds those who are really weak. For the rest of us, it isn't something to be overly concerned about...

It will. It is. In fact, I don't know one single person who knows anyone who has died of this thing. One person said they did, but when pressed, they were never tested, and they were already sick with serious underlying conditions.

People die. That is the circle of life.

At least 4,813 residents with confirmed or presumed cases of COVID-19 have died at 351 of New York’s 613 nursing homes since March 1, according to Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s administration’s new list. The list, released late Monday, includes the reported number of both confirmed and presumed deaths as of Sunday evening.

This was sad, tragic, and unnecessary. Governor Cuomo's horrible decision to place Covid-19 patients into nursing homes, have caused more deaths than what the terrorists brought to America on 9-1-1.

More than 4,300 recovering coronavirus patients were sent to New York’s already vulnerable nursing homes under a controversial state directive that was ultimately scrapped amid criticisms it was accelerating the nation’s deadliest outbreaks, according to a count by The Associated Press.


Cuomo, a Democrat, on May 10 reversed the directive, which had been intended to help free up hospital beds for the sickest patients as cases surged. But he continued to defend it this week, saying he didn’t believe it contributed to the more than 5,800 nursing and adult care facility deaths in New York — more than in any other state — and that homes should have spoken up if it was a problem.
