I made a mistake in not making my post a thread reply, not
a personal one like I did.
I think it is cruel to let cats outside where they can be killed
by cars, eatten by coyotes, chased by dogs, and attack birds.

If you care about them so much, then don't get them, simples.

It's your life-choice, this is all on you.

My neighborhood recently got rid of all the stray cats. I can look outside and there's no longer a cat in sight anywhere and hasn't been for awhile.

Just today found out, my indoor cats now have new interactive toys to play with.

This is the very thing I'm trying to point out. Cats are our friends, they earn their damn place in our neighborhoods doing good work for all of us.

So #ing annoyed right now...

Yeah that is why I wrote ultra sonic, not house sized trebuchet.

There's a place for wild and domestic cats. I would rather the rodent problem be dealt with by the dedicated mousers on the front lines outside even if I'm proud of the three household hunters doing their part to fight the incursion into our home due to our sudden lack of a neighborhood border control thanks to idiots.

By the way, we have four cats. Only three are doing their part though... One is apparently terrified of even the slightest twitch of a mouse... Is ok though, she's inbred, slightly retarded and cross eyed, it's probably better she leave it for the professionals.
