Pelosi and her ilk are putting their self interests first instead of those of the hard working American citizens of this country.

...AGAIN! I can say that I was actually surprised this time. Using this crisis to add crap unrelated to COVID_19 to this bill is INSANE.

As derfreebie said, "This opportunism is not only below you, it's destroying the republic you supposedly love".

So your OK with that $500 billion “Exchange Stabilization Fund” AKA slush fund that the most corrupt president in history will be the one overseeing it and deciding who gets it. There is nothing stopping him from awarding his own company billions of dollars.

Not sure who would want Trump to be in charge of something like that.

What does Obama have to do with this? Since when will he oversee anything?

This is the stupidest thing I have ever read on ATS this year

Period...

THIS is the stupidest thing you've read on ATS? Holy crap man. You need to read more.

No way should ANYONE get a $500B slush fund without any oversight or transparency. We learned that the hard way in 2007-2008

I agree there should be no slush fund, but what the democrats have thrown together would cripple any recovery and all those extra things they say must be there have nothing to do with pandemic relief and everything to do with pet pork projects, so why are those ok and pet projects for the republicans bad?

Personally I desperately want a third party to choose from but that will never happen since everyone is convinced they must vote against someone rather than for what they believe in.

Pelosi believes she has Republicans over a barrel....and she's right.

The campaign ads this fall should point out how Americans would have received more direct help, if Democrats had not siphoned off stimulus money for their pet peeve projects.

#1 Priority is to remove the Dim House majority.

Here is some of whats actually in the bill that the GOP wants to pass but the Dems are rightfully blocking!

• The bill includes a $500,000,000,000.00 corporate slush fund with little regulation or restriction, while leaving workers, families and children in the background.

• Corporate stock buyback language, that can be waived by the Treasury Secretary, is weak to say the least!

• Exec compensation limitations, for those accepting aid, only last for two years.

• Regulations on worker retention is weak and includes easy outs for companies; there are no assurances in the language that workers will benefit or be retained.

• There are no specific provisions to protect individuals from eviction, foreclosure or forbearance.

• No money for state and local governments to administer or protect residents during the duration of the crisis .

• No additional SNAP funds.

• No OSHA language to protect workers.

• Only 3 months on Unemployment Insurance with no language in extensions thereafter.

• Direct Payments are not available to the millions of people who did not file a return in 2018 or 2019, including Individuals who did not make enough money (more than about 23K) to file taxes.

- Individuals who make make more than 99K would also not qualify.

• No money to help with the treatment of the uninsured but affected

• No funding for PPE equipment funding for healthcare workers

Does that mean you see nothing wrong with Pelosi's bill and would want it passed?

While I lean left a bit more these days than I have in the past, I believe there’s some BS in this. If they want to bicker over this sh!t, do it at a different time. We’re one week away from the majority of the country’s rent/mortgage payment date and they’re going to pull this #?

I wasn’t enthused to hear about the Republican bill which I 100% believe would be squandered bailing corporations out while small business and the common man got f*cked over harder than anyone has seen since the 20’s.

Both sides are pulling bull# while people are scared #less. I can’t speak for everyone, but in the context of my friends who are in the restaurant/entertainment business, they’re more worried about getting their rent covered than they are catching Corvid.

I’m able to stay working and will be able to cover my bills, but even I’m worried about those who are not in my position. I’m helping my sister and my nephew out right now, but that’s only going to last so long. The closer we get to the 1st of the month, the more people are going to be freaking out.

Pelosi can make her bill Covid-19 Stimulus package #4.

Pass the Consumer Assistance package #3 as Senate Democrats and Republicans crafted it.

The globalists have lost their #ing minds and will push their agenda By Any Means Necessary, Just like the globalist agenda being snuck into the bill in the OP.
This BS has been going on for the past decade at least.
Things like the CDC fighting racism instead of planning how to fight epidemics, and places like NY spending $500 mil. on illegals instead of ventilators.
The stupidity has been increasing exponentially these past few years, it was bound to bite us in the ass when the SHTF like it is now.
NSFW, salty attitude may me triggering to some.

The CDC Was Fighting Racism and Obesity Instead of Stopping Epidemics

Or how about the World Health Organization declaring "the most urgent priority is how we talk about the virus so as not to cause offense.".
How many Italians did this belief system kill with their "Hug a Chinese" idiocracy?

He is worried about the social impact of Coronavirus and the stigmatizing effect of words. He claims the stigma is more dangerous than the virus itself and he has made every effort to underline this point by repeating it… twice.

Stigma is the most dangerous enemy we face. Stigma is the most dangerous enemy we face.

The Stigma of Coronavirus

While I don’t trust the wording in what was initially presented, I think it’s a lot more likely to move ahead than what Pelosi put forward.

If this doesn’t show the American people that our political system is a f*cking joke, I don’t know what will.

They're not even debating Pelosi's bill. So she told the Senate Democrats to vote no so she could craft her own bill and it wasn't even a serious bill, they're not even considering it.

So she delayed relief to the American people for nothing.

The reason she will probably get away with this Cadillac-sized
pork sausage is because the MSM will spin it to the Repubs and
Trump are badmouthing the effort-- just for partisan politics.

That's exactly what they did. CNN, MSNBC and them, if you look at their articles about the stimulus negotiations, ZERO mention of any of Pelosi's pork.

If they are not even debating it or bringing it to a vote, I would say that's all the evidence people should need that she is gonzo, bonkers, alcohol has pickled her brain, I know the true blue koolaid drinkers wont care but the middle ground voters should be irate.

I wonder if she thinks it the 1970s again and they have strong support everywhere still.

I'm starting to think she did it just to throw a bone to the AOC crowd, like hey we tried to get your # in.

She delayed aid to the people to appease her radical base. Disgusting.

Hey, at least Nancy is looking out for the corporate workers with her mandated $15/hr by 2021.

This is from the House bill:

Section 407 of the pending House bill:
"15 (c) PERMANENT REQUIREMENTS ON ALL CORPORA16 TIONS RECEIVING FEDERAL AID RELATED TO COVID–

21 workers (employees and contractors, full-time and
22 part-time) who—
23 (A) are unable to telework;
24 (B) need to be isolated or quarantined to
25 prevent the spread of COVID–19; or
1 (C) need time off to care for the needs of
2 family members.
3 (2) MINIMUM WAGE.—The corporation shall
4 pay each employee (full-time and part-time) of the

8 PAY.—The corporation may not have a CEO to median worker pay ratio of greater than 50 to 1 and

That's not looking out for workers. That will cost people their jobs. There are tons of small businesses that are incorporated, and many of them can't afford to pay their workers $15 an hour. They will either be run out of business or they'll have to significantly cut their workforce.

Yay proggressivism!

This kind of wishlist nonsense that makes no economic sense doesn't belong in a rescue package.

I am against the bailout the way it is written but I am also against adding anything non Corona virus related to the bailout. The bailout should only be for American families that have been laid off and small companies. If Major corporations cannot survive a few months with their multi million and billion dollar bankrolls perhaps they don't deserve to be in business in the first place.

bill 2 addressed the snap funds issues allready

bill one gave 400 million in additonal funding to CDC

that "slush fund" as you call it is NOT 500 billion its 200 billion i know because i actually read the bill with out the medias spin on it out of a 1 trillion stimulus package 800 billion would have gone to people (500 billion) and 300 billion for small buisness loans , the "slush fund" as the media labels it would be 50 billion for air lines with out stock buy backs allowed (further 8 billion for cargo planes) and 150 billion for corporations hotels, casinos(not a fan of this aspect) cruise lines and id imagine other hard hit companies. so this 500 billion slush fund nonsense is bs they just dont like it as it would be administered by some one trump appointed to treasury you know like all other presidents have done but orange man bad right? but sure 200 billion out of 1 trillion sure is a bad number when 800 billion would have gone to the people and SMALL businesses

www.axios.com...

Stimulus Phase 2 The package, negotiated by Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was signed into law by Trump Wednesday night. It's unclear exactly how much the bill will cost. The Congressional Budget Office has not yet scored it, while the Joint Committee on Taxation estimated it will cost roughly $100 billion. The measure provides: Free coronavirus testing including for the uninsured. Two weeks of paid sick and family leave. Increased federal funds for Medicaid and food security programs, like SNAP. Increased unemployment insurance benefits.
so there is increased funding for snap that you complained was not in the bill because it was allready passed in a separate bill

here is source for part 3 the one the dems didnt wanan pass

Stimulus Phase 3 The Treasury Department released a $1 trillion relief proposal Wednesday that would include industry-specific bailouts and payments to individual taxpayers. The proposal would provide: Two rounds of direct payments to taxpayers, on April 6 and May 18, costing $250 billion each. The amounts would be based on income level and family size. $300 billion in small business loans. (Employers with 500 employees or fewer would be eligible.) A $50 billion bailout for the airline industry. $150 billion to other industries affected, including hotels, casinos, cruise line operators and shopping mall operators. Guaranteed money market mutual funds.
so yeah the two at the bottom are what the dems are screaming slush fund falsely about

now on to why the treasury would be administering these funds because its their freaking job ,and ironically manuchin has said hes open and willing to allow oversight of it even though he did not have to so just to get aid to american people faster
en.wikipedia.org...

Powers and functions The Secretary of the Treasury is the principal economic advisor to the President and plays a critical role in policy-making by bringing an economic and government financial policy perspective to issues facing the government. The Secretary is responsible for formulating and recommending domestic and international financial, economic, and tax policy, participating in the formulation of broad fiscal policies that have general significance for the economy, and managing the public debt. The Secretary oversees the activities of the Department in carrying out its major law enforcement responsibilities; in serving as the financial agent for the United States Government; and in manufacturing coins and currency. The Chief Financial Officer of the government, the Secretary serves as Chairman Pro Tempore of the President's Economic Policy Council, Chairman of the Boards and Managing Trustee of the Social Security and Medicare Trust Funds, and as U.S. Governor of the International Monetary Fund, the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Inter-American Development Bank, the Asian Development Bank, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. — U.S. Department of the Treasury Web site[6] The secretary along with the treasurer of the United States must sign Federal Reserve notes before they can become legal tender.[further explanation needed] The secretary also manages the United States Emergency Economic Stabilization fund. Most of the department's law enforcement agencies such as the U.S. Customs Service, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and the U.S. Secret Service were reassigned to other departments in 2003 in conjunction with the creation of the Department of Homeland Security. The salary of the secretary of the treasury is $205,700 annually.
so its kind of his job to administer the funds but some how because trump appointed him its magically bad

www.cnbc.com... but its not all bad news apparently were close to an actual deal now

Democrats are pushing for an inspector general and congressional oversight board to oversee the fund. CNBC earlier reported that Mnuchin had agreed to more fund oversight.
its added 4 months of unemployment payments with 600 per month being added it from fed gov for those on unemployment and adding in gig workers to this as well and they are going with the republican numbers from senate plan

Immediate $2,400 checks for married couples and $500 per child $350 billion for small businesses to set aside for payroll to keep people working
boosted money for small business by 50 billion seems most if not all of pelosis shenanigans have been taken out of the bill but they have yet to release it so i cant read it only what cnbc has reported on .

oh and in random political news biden is debating either klobuchar or harris for vp apparently

www.barrons.com... stocks up on the news of deal being near but figured id add other links

news.yahoo.com... per the media we can expect two more stimulus bills
