I was wondering about why Tom Hanks and his magic typewriter have a connection and why it was so important that he was a focal point?

Could it be because he played Robert Langdon in movie version of Dan Brown's novel Inferno. You know that story about a virus being created in Italy that goes on to sterilize 1/3 of the population. See in the book unlike the movie they do not make it time and virus is released...
