This provides immediate beds and area to stock up on equipment.
They can also allow for distance for testing from non infected population.

This can help relieve medical ships that can take onboard the existing non infected ill, why the hotels/motels and potential college campuses can be used to concentrate on the infected on land...

Good luck and GOD Bless.

Whats wrong with fema camps - i mean walmarts.

Not like they'll be needed in a lockdown society anyways.

That way people who are healthy but are in a environment infected or possibly infected can go somewhere with some creature comforts to sit it out. (Hotels/motels)

It's what they have been doing in Seattle.
They are using old hotels and motels.

Grocery stores are all open.
And it's not always the time for a joke.

There’s nearly 1 million staffed hospital beds in the United States. If all those were actually full, that would mean the apocalypse had happened and it wouldn’t matter because half the population would be dead. Not even in China with almost 3x our population did they have that many sick.

Stop listening to the fearmongering media. The real threat is whatever deep state cabal is pulling this off, not the virus. While people are counting hospital beds our civil liberties are being eroded, the government is taking stakes in private industries, movement is restricted, and people are encouraged to report gatherings of more than 10 people to our new overlords.

FEMA camps may be for more extreme situations.

Most hotels are being offered government contracts (or, a potential to register for them) for this kind of stuff. When I got the notification from TLHA, i laughed and deleted the email.

What good does some small government revenue do when it won't pay for the damage their guests always do to properties? Unless you run a low end motel or are already planning a Property Improvement Project and just want to cash out the last little bit you can get on the current room builds, its just not worth it.

There is another source of real hospital beds.

Many military bases have closed their hospitals, quite a while ago.

They kept the buildings, using them as non-hospital clinics.

In our town alone there could be at least 100 beds opened up in our shuttered hospital that is used as a clinic.

It has been kept in good repair because it is being used as a clinic, with a lab and x-ray facilities, staffed with nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, MD's.

The shuttered rooms have oxygen hookups and double bed rooms.

If there is one like this in your town, like mine, send a message to the President online, suggesting these hospitals be ramped back up by soldiers and military engineers and get them ready for emergency use.
