My perfect progressive plan to get rid of coronavirus

I have the perfect plan to get rid of the virus, based on progressive legislative thought and methodology. If you tax and outlaw anything that's bad, it'll just go away.
1. Tax the coronavirus. If the government thinks anything isn't good (greenhouse gases, global warming, alcohol and tobacco) they just tax it. In the case of greenhouse gases and global warming, it'll make it disappear. In the case of alcohol and tobacco, at least the government will make some money off of it.
2. Pass a law making the virus illegal. Everybody will just give it up and the sickness will realize it's shouldn't be here and will go away on it's own accord. Works with guns in the hands of criminals.

BOOM! Problem solved. Where do I sign up for the Democratic ticket? A vote for me is a vote not for the Biden/Clinton ticket.
