I don't know what the epidemiologists think about the green new deal.

Trump's administration doesn't seem to care much for it though.

I don't mean to be nit-picky but the only word that matters is bolded. Do you have examples? If true I would disagree with him there too, but endorsing or suggesting really doesn't mean anything when the states can decide to do whatever they want.

Its not that simpkle. Hios tacit endorsement allows these states to do this while the people who would fight against it had trump not endorsed it cheer it along.

In addition, trump is talking about sending people cash checks (socialism) bailing out billion dollar industires, etc.

Saying, "well as long as trump is only endorsing ending our right to assembly and isnt enforcing it is ok" its not a position I will take.

I respect that, it's your opinion and you have a right to it. I don't see it as ordering anything but it's all yours. I am reminded of Bush Jr with the $1000 thing. Ideally, no, it's a band-aid not a solution IMO. I do remember getting like $300 under Bush and thinking, "wow, this is the only thing he's done that directly affected me. Cool, I'll put a T.V. on layaway".

My principles say no, and I'm conflicted cause I'm poor AF and having to wait 3 more days (out of work for 7 now) because I'm awaiting my Coronavirus test results. I can't return until this stupid test is complete. All because I had a cough, work said don't return till you are cleared, and they said Bronchitis, even though I'm really not sure about even that. So they gave me a CV swab, which I actually thought was weird because I'm seeing others report how hard it is to even get tested WITH all the symptoms etc. It's crazy right now. But I'll take that $1000 at this point. I have a weird suspicion I won't see that though, it seems more like a political stunt, but who knows.

So, we have had different experiences. In mine, it was a combination of virus fears and my employer being paranoid. I think this is the case in a LOT of cases, and in my personal opinion it's unfair and irrational to blame this all on Trump.

Rights don't matter much if you're dead—in this case from a highly infectious disease.

I'm not sure what you think Trump should have done. Veto the bills? Congress would override him anyway, and then he'd just be hammered nonstop in the media for opposing "help for the American people." He was in a lose-lose situation.

I agree and disagree with you..... However, Trump has no choice to shut down parts of the country. There is no winning combination or situation in this one, especially with a hyped up lying MSM. Doesn't matter how bad the virus is, Trump will take the heat from both sides.

But I do think that focusing on the fatality rate of COVID is a distraction.

That's how i looked at this situation. its a no win. If he goes against these type of measures, as Italy/Spain and other western nations take these measures, it will be used against him... If he goes with similar measures to what Italy is doing, its used against him. I dont know what he could have done that would have made all sides happy here. If he does nothing, there's potentially a major outbreak and countless people dead. If he takes extreme measures, the economy potentially cripples, without federal stepping in with a stimulus package...

The patriot act was more-or-less permanent, or rather passed legislation.

Hopefully this won't be, but rather a temporary step to save lives.

Is it inconvenient. Sure? Necessary? Perhaps.

I don't see long-term legislation enacted because of this that take away freedoms, though.

That's the difference, although I could be wrong. If I am, I'll be right there to condemn it.
