Read about it before you damm the UN, I see another scape goat appearing....

The UN has no soldiers, of course they were from another country, hence, the UN.

Doesn't matter. They were working for the UN and under UN orders.
Same as our troops being somewhere in a UN action. The UN is
ultimately responsible. The UN ordered them to behave. They didn't.

Yes oredered to do a job, what and how they done it was done under their comander a morrocan...
Also....it was a UN team that investigated them....

Last month, a UN team investigated 72 allegations of abuse by UN peacekeepers and civilian staff.

Hmm isnt that just a bit stupid to report stuff you ordered them to do?

Actually its the officers fault due to the fact that the officers didnt do what officers are suposed to do, hell the UN was being told they where doing thier job by the comanders and so didnt know about it.
Unless you believe we should then blame every orginisation of a crime commited by a few individuals?

So how long have you hated your mother? Did your father beat you over spilled milk?

Are the moderators just sitting there twiddling thier thumbs? This entire thread is nonsese propogated by more nonsense; nary have we seen substantial reasons to believe that the entire en bloc of the United Nations is corrupt. It's nothing but dogma coupled with more dogma.

This is an isolated incident which evidently was not perpetuated by senior officials, nor was there any evidence that senior members of the U.N were involved in these cases.

Corruption occures in all institutions, regardless of thier merit and supposed altruistic endevours; we are egoistic beings wholly constrained by human nature.

Then why not lash out against the Executive branch in the U.S. for the misdemenour of U.S. soldiers in Iraq? Your logic is blinded by your hatred for the U.N; your logica dictates hypocricy.

That's the point. It wasn't just 'a few' individuals. This is more
evidence that the UN is out of control and that it can't control
those who work for it. How can they? The brass is too busy
with it's own illegal activities.

Oh I do hate the U.N. For good reason. But no, it doesn't cloud
logic since it is logic that brought me to hate the UN.

There are MASSIVE abuse and illegal activities perpetrated by the
UN and it's minions. Massive. In all areas of the world and in all
branches of the UN. The UN can't control it's people. The brass is
too busy carrying on with their own illegal activities and the corruption
is too widespread to be able to control. However, the dozen National
Guardsmen who took dirty pictures of prisioners was an isolated
event that was investigated thoroughly and the people who
allegedly took the dirty pictures and who allegedly made the dog
bark at hooded terrorist prisioners, are being brought to trial. This
situation was small, isolated, and brought under control. Just the
opposite of the UN situation which is ongoing, HUGE, and out of
control.

No hypocricy there. Just logic.

(BTW - I said 'allegedly' because even though we know they did
it, they haven't all gone to trial or been found guilty yet. So that's
the proper way to address it)

Yes it was, the actions of a unit of "soldiers".
They are not there to "control" anyone!
They are there to orginise and get the world to work together, not be a world gov.
Oh so the whole things currupt, same with the US governemnt, if the US government has large numbers of low level currupt people then the whole things currupt?

There's no argument here. The UN's corrupt. So is the US govt.

Since the UN haters have listed the dirty deeds of the UN, all I will add is their population control programs. Don't feel bad, super rich Americans also want population control. (ahem, Ted Turner)

Again, they are not corrupt because everyone is bad. They're corrupt because the bad ones have all the power. As for the oil for food thing, didn't Halliburton have a hand in that?
And doesn't Dick Cheney have close ties to Halliburton?

Elements of the US govt have killed lots of people, just like elements of the UN, albeit in different ways. The US govt has put so many dictators into power in other countries, the Bush lie of "let's spread freedom" is almost too laughable. Especially when our country isn't even a democracy...

No, not really. If you are going to make grossly exagerated accusations, atleast have the admirable countenance of substantiating these accusations. The burden of providing proof falls on your shoulders.

You're blinded be your hatred and your myopic accord can nary deploy reason and logic.
