I know someone who had symptoms a while back and the Medical director of the N. Chas plant was telling him to come in even though his wife was positive. He didn't, and later tested positive himself.

That doesn't surprise me in the least.

FWIW, for the first time in recent memory, a guest on CNBC, actually advocated for the US government to nationalize the Airline Industry as opposed to having to bail it out every 5 years or so. Amazing to think someone is considering such a thing.

If you like Amtrak, you will love Amair.

That's a horrifying idea. The government can't even manage simple programs, and they're going to run airlines? God help us all.

More than 7500 planes are sitting idle. Victorville is seeing 30-40 planes a day going in to be stored.

The Coronavirus Relief Bill includes $25B for commercial airlines, $4B for cargo operators, and $3B for ground support employers. Interesting strings that actually make sense.

1. It must be used exclusively for paying employee wages, salaries, and benefits.

2. No job, pay, or benefit cuts until September 30, 2020 and no stock buy back or dividend payments until September 30, 2021.

There is more, but the bill actually makes quite a bit of sense. What the hell is up with that.

On Saturday FR24 tracked 89,276 total flights. The lowest since they started daily statistics in 2016.

KLM flew their last 747 flight today, and the last Qantas 747 flight touches down in Sydney in about 4 hours.

Hello all..thanks to the OP for the thread, it has fleshed out the carnage that's going on and directly affecting my life to be sure..
I fly for a living. Well, I'm on planes for a living. Some 18 yrs or so now.
I can add only that I new it was getting real when my two flights to and from the UK in early March were really, really, empty.
When after the second trip I was told to stay home and self monitor for a couple weeks I was unable to deny the chickens had come home to roost so to speak..
My office has been standing by for weeks now. Hundreds of people that are on planes for a living, thousands nationwide, have idled. No one is flying my supervisor confided. No one. It's clear that they saw the excrement incoming on a vector to impact the necessary works and the order given.
I suspect they knew, or someone finally decided to put down one of the balls that were being juggled because it wasn't fun anymore.
Seems we are living in interesting times.

professional lurker signing off,
I hope things do not get too interesting , best of luck folks, wish you well

Qatar has maintained their schedule, and plan on 1800 flights over the next two weeks. But they're about to run out of cash on hand and need government support. They're running about 50% capacity.

should have tied those stipulations to every single company that took money not just the airlines.

But I guess we shouldn't look to hard at the unicorn and be happy we saw it once in our life time.

Yep, those companies who had to be bailed out before and subsequently continued to mismanage their business are like junkies getting another shot of junk. When it's time to pay the piper it won't be pretty.

American plans to ask for up to $12B in grant money, and has expanded their fleet retirement plans. They previously announced 34 757s and 17 767s. They added 76 737s acquired between 1999 and 2001, all 9 A330-300s, and all 20 E190s.

Under the terms of the congressional bill, the airlines must provide minimal coverage to the extent reasonable and practical until September 30. For example, if an airline flew to a destination once a day, five days a week, they'd have to maintain that, with a few exceptions.
