As everyone knows there's been a lot of news coverage of this current pandemic that grips the world. I've heard a whole lot about infection rates and how it's spreading etc. But, unlike news coverage of past pandemics outbreaks whatever, i've yet to see any footage, images or even description of what happens to someone suffering from this horrible infection.

I've seen all sorts of footage of people losing their #, cleaning stores out, wearing masks and zoot suits in public, attacking Asians etc. But have yet to see or even read anything that portrays any of the dangers of this virus.

Now I understand, if you're over 80 and literally already knocking on death's door you might be #ed, but for everyone else, the symptoms from what little i've actually been able to find, are less #ty than the common cold.

So, apart from mass hysteria and the effects that's been causing to the world, why the hell has everyone collectively lost their # and stopped the whole #ing world because they're scared of something that for more than 99% of people out there will be less bad than something nearly every person around the world gets every year?

People used to willingly expose their kids to chickenpox a disease with far worse symptoms yet this scares the crap out od the world?

i don't know anyone who panics. there are reasons to actively fight against the virus:
1. the health care system must not be overburdened: hospitals and doctors must be able to continue to deal with urgent cases
2. to protect the elderly and people with respiratory diseases
3. we are not immune
4. out of solidarity

what people fail to (or don't want to) understand is that the problem is not about the death rate, the problem is how many people will need ICU treatment and, in the US, who, from those who need it, are going to be able to afford for it. Look at what is happening in Italy, just yesterday 196 people died from covid-19 because their heath care system is overwhelmed and, in the most affected areas, they don't have enough beds for the number of pacients that need it (remembering that people are still suffering from other stuff, from traumas to strokes etc). 2 and a half weeks ago Italy had less cases from covid-19 than they have dead from yesterday.

Their healthcare system is overwhelmed because of people panicking going to the hospital every time they cough. They're overwhelmed by people who believe they might be sick.

Yeah, that makes sense, because everyone that panics and go to the hospital everytime they cough needs a ICU bed.

Picture a bad cold, and thats it.

Same symptoms same danger to the elderly.

They are seeing if they can increase the mortality rate that a bad cold brings by giving it an exotic name and spreading fear.

In all honesty if it is a new version of the cold then we should be asking for it, so the immune system can fight it and be ready for further mutations.

It's only a matter of time before Americans to get fed up over seeing so many cancellations and inconveniences due to a virus that is struggling to kill even 100 people in this country, since it started two months ago.

www.worldometers.info...

Meantime, 42 Americans are murdered every single day. Hundreds of threats in this country are more serious Ben Coronavirus.

Give it another 60 days. Cases double every 6 day. It has been calculated that we will be getting really bad around the 1st week of May.

This thing has just started here.

Remember in 2009, under Obama, when H1N1 broke out and had infected 61 million and killed 12,500 in America? Democrats were all like

But then in 2020, under Trump, when Coronavirus breaks out and infects 1,390 and kills 39 in America, democrats are all like

I'm truly disgusted by their filthy politicization of this.

It just started in South Korea, too, but their cases are decreasing dramatically. So are China's.

Look at the cases around the world check the numbers, how many can relate to the numbers 3,6,9
Too many to be coincidental. And I don't need Spss to see that.

As IMTAT pointed out in a recent thread, this is being overly hyped. They are doing an excellent job of freaking everyone out. For what appears to be less than the common flu. Old people die. It sucks, but everyone dies at some point.

The news really needs to chill, they focus on critical patients and not everyone else. Data now shows swine flu potentially infected well over one billion. This will be no different when we look back at data in a few years.

We are getting a huge influx of funding to stop this, not because it's the Motaba virus from the movie Outbreak and we're going to be bleeding from every oraface but because the economy and public health networks are very vulnerable.

The problem is a shortage of supplies of drugs that we know work on this thing. We are growing it in BSL3 labs and inactivating it for BSL2 work. The goal is to build reliable genetic mapping so we can start throwing known drugs, old trial vaccines and antibody treatments at the spike protein so it stops or slows down viral replication. This way people who are critical don't die.

It's from animals, it most likely crossed over from an epidemic in animals, causing a high mutation rate and then a crossover. Most people will get a cold, some will get Bronchitis or pneumonia, people with immunodeficiency or comorbidities need to isolate themselves. We know this because of mutations indicating non human exposure and while it's good at binding to our ACE2 receptors there are no genetic markers indicating it was developed for our ACE2 receptors.

Meh I notice, the only ones panicking and being hysterical are the ones complaining about it. It’s not hard to notice either. It’s dangerous if you want to read countless pearls of knowledge start on page 1 part 1 on the corona virus updates.

In January, people were saying wait until February. In February people were saying wait until March. Now at least you've stepped it out until two months away.

But at what point do you start to feel like the climate change brigade predicting a doom that hasn't quite materialized but is always just over the horizon?

In China it seems to me that all the health care ran through the hospitals or traditional practitioners, so you always went to the ER. When this thing broke, everyone who was there for any reason at all got exposed. That blew their problem up in Wuhan beyond all reason.

In Italy, a disproportionate amount of the population is in the high risk category. That will skew their numbers of severe and critical cases, and they were already suffering from a shortage of health care providers.

I read an article on the drudge report yesterday that a pretty severe number like 15 percent. Of survivors when they recover lungs are scarred and parts of there lungs crystallized www.mirror.co.uk...

Where does it say the lungs crystaliize?

Those are all scans of lungs with active disease.

Now, anytime you get pneumonia or ARDS, you suffer a chance of lung scarring, but that can be pneumonia or ARDS that develops for any reason. You have a risk of lung scarring just from being put on a ventilator really.

This is only in critical patients with underlying conditions and it's called honeycomb lung. Ground glass opacity is also seen in imaging and references the appearance not crystallization. The immune response is responsible for the damage. This is the media being the media, 15 percent of critical patients with numerous other issues. Not the 80% who get a cold or even the additional 10 or 15 whatever percent that get a deeper lung infection.

part of the problem is as mentioned the overloading of hospitals from the sickness. especially ICU and the breathing equipment that is need by some of those affected by it. this is especially true in places with socialized healthcare, where the simple truth is hospitals are overloaded without any breakout of a sickness like this. it has been a longstanding problem in Canada for example where due to socialized medical care there are not enough beds even for the normal day to day sick people. with thousands being roomed and treated in hospital hallways, even without anything like the Wuflu going around. so just where are they supposed to treat all those needing help in this crisis, when they are already overloaded everyday?

another concern is the possible permanent effects that could have serious health consequences for the rest of their lives after recovering from it. i know we have been hearing about permanent lung damage being caused by the Wuflu, right from the very beginning. effects that might be a problem not for just the elderly and immuneo-compromised people, but also for otherwise healthy young people.
