To update.
I was back at the surgery today to pick up a renewed prescription. Big notices declaring that the "open surgery" mornings were cancelled until further notice, which presumably means appointments only for the time being. So the waiting-room was absolutely empty. However, the actual reason given was that the staff would not be available. Perhaps they are clearing the decks for spending more staff time on emergency virus care.

I went into Morrisons on my way to Boots. The only significant empty shelving was the middle portion of a very long toilet-paper sector. I have a theory that panic=buying can only be a temporary phase, because people will stop once they feel they've got "full stocks of everything" (apart from late bursts of people who were slow to join the band-wagon). Perhaps our local shops have reached that stage already.

LOL ... My contributions to the boards bothering you?

Atlanta's confirming a dozen cases. Since the truth is being suppressed, how many do you think are really puffing out lungfuls of pestilence where you live. You're an old guy too, aren't ya?

Atlanta's confirming a dozen cases.

In case you haven't noticed , and it is apparent from both your posts on this thread that you have not , this is not about Atlanta . Nor the US for that matter.

Start a thread on Georgia and Atlanta , and you can bet I will be there Denying Ignorance.

Denying ignorance.
Why ?
Ignoring ignorance is a terrible thing.

Over 500 cases now. It's only been 9 days.

Know how many folks get the flu in a normal season in Atlanta alone ?
I will answer that .
Way more than 600 . Just in Atlanta.
Been more than 9 days .
Been since December.
You goin downhill fast.

Denying ignorance.
Why ?
It runs "strong" in some folk and they try to spread it around .

Possibly a useful tip.
I've had a couple of thermometers for ages- a precaution which backfired, in a sense, because one was found to be dead and the other had a dying battery. Obviously replacements are now unavailable..
OK, try replacing the battery. This would require an LR41. in the usual places selling batteries, I found nothing smaller than LR44, and then thought of a little watch-repair shop. "What's it for, love, thermometer? I've sold a lot of those." But not so many, fortunately, that she was out of stock, and I was able to go home with my prize.
