An old Stalinist once told me that the real news was hidden way in the financial papers or way down in the inside pages of mainstream newspapers or in technical documents. Probably the only thing he had been right about since he stood up to fascism in 1936.

In case you missed it, Mohamed Bin Salman has purged the Saudi government . Over in China, people have been colour coded according to health risk and there are signs that China is tinkering with the structure of its economy.

Socialists and free marketeers alike will agree what's happening.
