hello everyone, i have a very small silver collection but because i like the idea of owning more silver and possibly gold and other precious metals i looked around to see where i could buy them online and apmex appears to be the best of my googleing.

have any of you ever purchased gold/silver online? was it from apmex? what is your experience buying gold and silver online? where do you get your silver or gold?

thanks for any replys i may get.

I have bought all of my silver from Apmex. You can also buy from them on Ebay.

Gold is too rich for me. I get 10 oz of silver every year or so.

The only issue I have had from buying from Apmex on their site is sometimes the postman will put a card in my mailbox and I have to go down to the post office to pick it up in person.

I have delt with Apmex here and there. Never had a problem ordering or receiving from them. They do sometimes make you aware of lead times due to shortages from the various mints depending on your taste.

I like silver Maples over Eagles, personally, with Maples being slightly cheaper than Eagles. I have never seen Maples out perform Eagles until last week. Kinda blew me away.

Current silver oz. price: $17.40

Best Eagle price per oz. : $19.40 (current)

Best Maples price per oz. : $19.83 (current)

comparesilverprices.com...

Still doing ever so slightly better than Eagles right now..

ETA: There seems to be a shortage of physical Maples right now, it happens yet like I said regardless, Eagles usually perform better. Apmex isn't currently offering them, and only four major brokers are. 🤷🏽‍♂️

I did a lot of comparison shopping before I started buying uncirculated and older .999 silver coins 5 years ago. I have bought probably close to $1000 worth of silver coins since then.

Since I sell a lot of guitars, amps and other items on eBay, I found several highly rated, reputable eBay sellers, whom I bought from. I never had a problem and the price I paid were usually slightly lower than APMEX. Check out JMBullion and Provident Metals, they tend to be cheaper as well.

Ive bought some silver coins on ebay, and never had a problem, but, normally I just head over to a local coin shop. They have everything, cash and carry. I buy both gold and silver, rounds, bars and coins

Heres a few of the silver ones. I have several gold coins too

I get it for commodity spot price, plus maybe up to 50 cents per round.

Ive been buying silver dollars for over 30 years, and used to get Morgans for 5 $ each

when my uncle passed i got 20+lbs of gold in coins, bars ingots and whatnot i haven't bought any gold via apemex but ive sold it at the local gold store (coins and karats) and made a pretty penny its up over 1650 an ounce last time i checked . gonna go sell some more tomorrow to help pay for my parents new garage but i try to keep my transactions under 10k for any one transaction for tax reasons.

i had been excited hoping some of the coins were collectable or "more valuable" then spot so to speak but my uncle bless his heart polished and cleaned them.......

haven't gotten to weighing the silver but its a few 1 oz bars and like thousands of quarters dimes nickles etc and a few silver dollars so we mostly been giving them to the nieces/nephews as like low level gifts , i think silver is at what 16? 17 an ounce right now?

i keep most of it in a safe deposit box as i dont like having that much wealth just "laying around" but other then here and on reddit i have not talked about it much for obvious reasons ,but been trying to find a way to buy stocks with it so far with no success

I have used Apmex many times. I usually buy 1/10 oz gold because it is less likely to faked and filled with tungsten.

I used to purchase mine from Northwest Territorial Mint, but it looks like they are gone. At the time, it was the best place I could find for buying silver in quantities of hundreds to 1000 oz. range

Since some mentioned it, I did sell silver bars on Ebay in the past, and US Mint silver, gold and platinum eagles. Did better that was than selling to shops. I've kept some metals, but was always good at timing markets on them, so more of a buy/sell/enjoy the shineys while I have them kind of hobby.

golds shooting up over oil stocks tanking and market instability via corona virus its hovering around 1700 an ounce right now ,wish my gold guy was open but it may go up more so not the best time to jump into gold as the reccord high was in 2011 i think of 1900 an ounce

Wife and I use AMPEX and others listed. Decided Coins (and such) were better gifts than other stuff thats never used or wanted.

Amassing a nice collection.

WAIT!!! Just wait out this week before you sell anymore!!

Just one week and then decide. This coming week is going to be pretty bad if not horrendous in the market.

Folks are going to move into save havens like silver, gold, commodities...you WILL see a significant rise in gold. Just a week man, don't want to see you get burned.

Not doom porn, and you can thank me later!

yeah was only thinking of selling a few oz no where near the total haul as taxes would be terrible lol but never hurts to have extra cash for a bit , im hoping it breaks the 1900 threshold from 2011 and stops somewhere around 2200

HOLD ON TO THAT GOLD!! DON'T GET RATTLED!!

I know it's looking grim, but you're going to be sitting pretty soon enough.

Let the market level out and sell into strength NOT WEAKNESS.

You'll be fine.
