Standford University has created a new Covid19 test that are faster than the existing tests. The test is already being used at both the main hospital and the children hospital and has FDA approval.

The Clinical Virology Laboratory led by Dr. Benjamin Pinsky began rapid development of the test in January and proved its efficacy and sensitivity to COVID19 the following month. For now it is being used in house at the two hospitals. Unlike other tests results can come in as soon as 12 hours.

That being said, its still unclear at what point in exposure people will test positive.

Stanford Health Care has developed a new test for the COVID-19 disease and is now using it to verify suspected cases of the illness at its hospitals. The announcement of the new test comes as Stanford University disclosed on Thursday that it is treating a "few" patients who have tested positive for COVID-19.

The test is being used for patients at Stanford Hospital and Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford who are suspected of being infected with the respiratory virus SARS-CoV-2, which causes COVID-19. The COVID-19 disease originated in Wuhan, China, which as of Thursday has infected 95,333 patients and killed 3,282 around the world, according to the World Health Organization. As of Thursday, 20 cases have been reported in Santa Clara County.

Cool. I just saw this and was about to post it.

It is expected to deliver results within 12-24 hours.

As with all currently available tests, it’s not yet clear how long a person needs to be infected before testing positive, or whether someone who's infected could be identified by the test before displaying symptoms.

Stanford is a private research university. The other breakthrough was from a another private research organization is Israel. Look at all the socialists and communist countries. What are they contributing to the effort of figuring it out. From the looks of it only thing they have contributed to was causing it and spreading it because they reacted too slow and constrict the flow of information by silencing their people.
