My year or so in a Health Dept setting with the Food Inspectors (food doods we called them), they would say that most people who get stomach bugs are food born related. Most people don't consider what they had to eat 2 or 3 days ago but that is how long many food born illnesses kick in. Loss of fluids being the biggest concern with either of these bacteria related illness or Viral. If you are not able to hold down solid foods , pedialite is good for you.

If it isn't asking too much, keep us updated and record here how it progress and how you fight it. You'll win this one.

He didn’t actually say he was diagnosed with it.
Still waiting to hear that part.

Yeah, just fear IMO until they say otherwise. But I think we'll see more posts like this cause you know, it can seem pretty scary with all the hype this is getting. The problem is, no-one really knows what to believe with the numbers etc, and I think the lack of transparency is just making it worse, while all the hush hush exists to quell panic.

That is bronchitis and I have had that for 2 months now. Finally clearing up. It was wake you up to cough so I had to sleep somewhere the wife didn't have to hear it. I caught mine when my mom who was sniffling with something for weeks kissed me. Who gets mad at mom for that? Well, I do recall not liking that in public as a kid now that I recall being embarrassed......

Oh I hope you are better.

I sure do hope you protected your co workers from your flu while near them. At my office they would come with pitchforks figuratively if you came in with a bad cough any time of any year and not just now. The Environmental Scientist tend to be anal about hygiene and staying healthy. Just what you want some math nerd who looks down their noses at others who don't share their Howard Hughes like steps to protect themselves from the rest of us. I guess with CV-19 they are already using the good practices, but they do seem to go overboard.

I have been able to work with my bronchitis by having several days at home working as an alternative site and when I do go in I cover my mouth and stay away from getting too close to anyone to be safe.

1 deep fried mars bar and a bottle of buckie - and man the **** up

And some chicken soup! You big Chicken!

All kidding aside,,, I hope you feel better soon. My bad flu lasted 4 weeks. It was in my lungs. I took 24 hours of sickleave, but ended up working in a cold steel manufacture, with a fever, with cold fans blowing on me, for 12 hour shifts. I did concern myself about the possibility of pneumonia and death just last month

Just keep in mind that the vast majority of people who catch this thing are recovering from it, at least from the numbers we are being told. 3.4 fatality rate is high but this isn't going to be world-ending as far as mass deaths go. We'll see what happens with the world economy, but humans are very resilient. Even if this was the biblical plague, it would be one of many things to happen, and would not result in the end of the world by itself. Best you can do is just chill and let what happens, happen.

It depends on the strain you catch. The original S (ancestral) strain is the one with a death toll of about 1%-3.5%. The L strain is a lot more virulent and infectious. That's the strain that you should be concerned about as it could have as high as 25% death toll.

These two videos are from Dr. John Campbell explaining the difference between the two strains. BTW, he also gives a lot of information of what he knows so far. At about halfway is when he starts explaining the differences, and he points out the death toll in places like Seattle is 25%, which is probably caused by the mutated L strain of the COVID-19.

The L strain could be the one that reached the U.S. as out of 39 infected people 10 died in Seattle. That's about a 25% death rate.

Also, there is this claim that young people are fine and that is not true. In Iran, and even in China,a lot of young people have died. Most of the dead in Iran are young people. And there are videos that have been leaked from Iran which claim the real death rate in Iran is much higher.

Ahem!

So are you willing to say you haven't seen the politicians act like Jackasses trying to lay it on DJT. From ignoring the travel ban from Chinese cities AFTER they were calling him racist,to using the money from the wall as if allowing more unchecked potential CV-19 into America. But it doesn't even end with the lying about firing the CDC.

How can we let that go?

How when those same Jackasses have fellow members of their party stating they hope the so called deplorables die form CV-19?

Explain how we can ignore these things or you are just happy it was happening to begin with so you can hope bad things happen to good people like the D from Colorado this week.

God speed with you’re recovery. If Your breathing becomes laboured get yourself down the A+E sharpish.

Great post but the one before you guys all might wish a rethink.

Here is why:

Science tells us that being afraid tends to physically weaken your immune system and exhaust us mentally. The adrenaline release from causes other chemical to be released in our bodies. Those are the facts. Therefore, it is imperative for all of us to try to conquer fear as much as possible.

When people apply logic, they will agree with the stay calm and don't lose your focus on things that matter theory. Wash your hands, stay away from close physical contact with people in general when a virus is spreading. Hear me know, believe me later as this is the truth.

Don't be scared but be prepared. Fear, scare are negative emotions which you don't need.

Wish you the best is all I can say really.

The history of bachelor or Stag party is thought to have originated with a bachelor/stag dinner that was traditional in ancient Sparta in 5th century BC, where soldiers would toast each other on the eve of a friend's wedding.

I'm in Norwich, Norfolk, UK. not seen any evidence of it here yet. no obvious panic buying either. although I have bought slightly more tins, TP each shop for the past few weeks.
I was worried, I kind of am worried. I'll take things as they come. panic if I need to.

This is the most sensible post so far this thread for common sense. Panic if we need to but for God's sake learn the media wants us afraid of many things. Fear sells news ads. We do not have to be so up their asses we can't discern the truth. Some of you are hopelessly lost in the media BS and it is dangerous to you, your family and friends to continue this much longer. We have to begin to recognize that "by any means necessary" is about ending freedom and bringing in a new world order run by the same old world ass holes.

God bless you I hope you get better and no one else you know catches that too. We should all say prayers for people no matter our orientation of politics or religious upbringing. Trying to remain calm when you have a bug this year is not going to be easy despite what I posted about fear I know it is hard but do your best. Blessings to you.

Hey all, first time posting so be gentle
What's going on now made me actually want an account and stop lurking
I'm a single mum with 2 young boys and a daughter I work in a deli section at one of our major supermarket chains over here, I live in a beautiful port area size of a small city with export and tourism and fishing as our industry.
I've been sick since Saturday, never been so sick in my life, started with headache and nausea went to sore throat, weird cough and it's hard to breathe, I've been using ventolin and I'm not asthmatic.
I'm scared,I went to the Dr was told respiratory viral infection, self quarantine. Asked if I've been overseas, I said no but I deal with tourists every day ,we are only allowed to use gloves when handling meat ,no sanitizers are allowed and if I'm alone with over 10 customers waiting I don't have time to wash my hands every time someone touches my hands ,I'm too busy. My Dr told me if my breathing or dehydration worsens I need to get to the hospital but until then stay home. She also said there are no known cases here but we have no testing in my town. 3 hospitals in the major city is all my state has. How the hell are proper statistics being given when there's no testing and you're told to go home until you get too sick???? I'm not worried about myself as much as the people I may have gotten sick, if I feel like I've been hit by a bus and I'm young what is this going to do to the elderly??? I'm scared because businesses aren't bringing in stricter hygiene practices, the health system can't handle anything yet so if you're sick they hide you at home and pretend nothing's going on . I rang My mother and she freaked at how sick I am and rang the corona virus help line because I'm in a port city, we've had so many international travelers here, ships loading iron ore ,cruise ships and I deal with alot of different people, they told her the same thing no testing available, no cases recorded stay home. The government's are lying.

Now that Dr needs a new profession if he is not seeing patients due to any virus unless he is infected now.

My doctor canceled my appointment for next Monday because he has the Corona-scare..... says he's not taking any risks and not seeing patients. Lucky me it was just a 6 month check up.... I imagine other of his patients are off worse.

I hear other specialists who work independent from a hospital are doing the same thing over here.
Health officials keeps saying there is nothing to worry about, it's just like the flu.

I thought I was past the scare but this makes me anxcious

My sister in law just sent us a shipment of wine from California; they have 53 confirmed cases and 1 death in CA my state only had 22. Not to mention that she shipped it FedEx.

Now I have to decide if I should burn the wine or drink it.

My chest is still bad as is the coughing, I’m calling my GP to get another appointment tomorrow and demand to be tested as I feel this isn’t normal, as I’ve said I’m 40 years of age and a strapping man with no health issues. I have not had a sick day in 10 years and that was due to food poisoning. Everywhere I go I see people that are sick and say it’s just the cold. They are covering this up.
