US Military staff are restricted from travel to the Taegu area unless a travel order is approved by a General Officer.

If you are assigned to the Taegu area ... you can't travel.

Probably won't be seeing that in published news anytime soon.

I wonder what that means for Soldiers who are due to rotate back to the US after their tour is up: Can't just travel from one post to another ... or, you're stuck in-country indefinitely? I don't know if I'd want to be on an airplane (or a ship) if there was a chance an 'infection breather' was on-board with me.

Also, I don't think the US Military is anywhere near prepared for a bio-weapon-strength epidemic. Interesting times these ... pretty soon we'll all know.

Perspective: One third of the whole world has now blocked South Korean travelers from entering their countries.

6 hours ago South Korea confirmed 3,736 infections. Here's a graph from 2 days before that number was posted. The rise is indicating epidemic level infection rates.

Seriously wonder how China managed to keep their charts the way they did.

They'll get orders pushed back, nothing new or crazy about that. Happens all the time.

That's a bit hyperbolic, it's a flu. It most strongly effects the very old and very young and those with poor health and compromised immune systems. None of which are descriptors for the demographics making up the US military.

And we learned these lessons in 2009 with the pig flu. We had whole ships quarantined.

Not a big deal.

I'm not ready to argue that with you. I'll let the Government Level reactions to this bug stand on their own merits.

I've been around the military for more than 30 years. The only time I was ever quarantined was just before being deployed (nothing illness related). So glad to be DD-214ed.

Good news: My Pop's gonna be home today. Worry has been taking a heavy toll on my Mom.

The same way America did.

The stock market was gonna crash one way or the other and there was no reason to try and shelter it by lying. The flows of goods and services drive that train.

A rare thing for me to concede, "You're right." But, you probably are.

It has been harder to find deaths from this in South Korea. They did find a drug combo that helped, not really an expensive combo there, but I bet it costs a small fortune here.

Looks like 30 people have been 'cleared' and 18 have died. Here's hoping they have found an effective treatment.

That's fair, though it seems odd to me that so many people suddenly trust the government or the media for that matter.

Yes the stock market was going to go into a predictable correction, as has been admitted is the patter for years by bank CEO's in testimony to Congress after the big crash of 08/09. Now consider how much support our administration has had with record breaking economic gains??? How good would it look to finally suffer that correction in an election cycle?? Queue the advanced hysteria blaming virus for this matter by way of alleging the end of the world. Now it is the virus fault, and in no way can be pinned on the governing administration.

Mike pompeo is responsible for this hysteria because it is written in law that the Global Engagement Center is run by the secretary of the state. A foia released internal CIA memo from 1991 even admits the CIA has had personal relationships with every Media company in the USA.

But you know what?? I think people like their room porn because Americans have become addicted to fear. Straight up. American's want to be afraid, they no longer have any idea how to live free of it, so they look to the Media that we all know is run by a handful off corps and the goddamm CIA since the buyouts of the late twentieth century consolidated mass information on dissemination.

This is becoming y2k all over Again, waste away your savinfs stimulating economic activity though. The bankers will enjoy robbing your wealth again.

When the media wants you to be afraid, do the opposite. Tell em to # off and live your life like any other day.

I wonder if the sign language they use there translates to our language? I wonder if sign language is actually a universal language of the deaf. If so, I would prefer to use the sign language since learning one language would make it possible to talk to someone in all countries....although, you can find people who speak English in every country but very few who speak sign language.

Like underwerks, I don't believe what they're saying, but I see what they're doing. They're slapping down quarantines for this bug ... but, they're not doing that for the 'regular flu' ... which is 'reportedly' far deadlier when looking at numbers side-by-side.

Our allied nations have the same kind of rich elites running their show. The bigger the spectacle, the better the returns on dirt cheap stock prices.

Come on man, it's so predictable it's a shame people still fall for this after we have been debating it for literally decades in forums like this.

Just go burn all your savings clearing out the shelves at your local market. It will be good for the economy, and the bankers profits. It was the whole point of Y2K, and it clearly looks like they want to do it again with a bio scare this time.

The common denominator?? The consolidated media and their orders for everyone to fill with fear and dread.

To be fair, I don't think many people would fall for a quarantine over a bargain-basement yearly flu. This might be the end of days or it might not, but pointing to their response isn't exactly the argument a lot of people imagine it is.

I don't think this is manufactured.

A lot of people saw this coming.

The market was inflated, and the second something gave investors cold feet, we were due for a correction.

The elites will surely get stocks while they're down, but so will everyone's investment strategies that stay the same.

If the S&P shaves double digit percentages, and people keep investing, they're gonna be in a good place in a year or more.

Just spent the weekend on a Nuclear missile base, and had the opportunity to meet a guy in charge of the security force medical aspects. I didnt leave with much confidence there is serious preparation or concern towards Corona. I'm sure I didnt get the full picture, but we could be in very big trouble if this isnt as mild as we hope.

It's not "a flu". "Flu" is short for influenza..... caused by the influenza virus. There are many kinds of viruses but only one causes the flu....influenza virus.

Polio, rabies, covid-19, and hepatitis are all caused by viruses but none of those viruses also cause the flu.
