Well, what really matters is that we need to keep Stayin' Alive!

So ... maybe I'm not handling this with the appropriate gravity?

Defy gravity and treat the topic with a fun bent, Kets.

Hard to top "Down with the sickness" but Black Sabbath seems appropriate to me as we head Into the void

Rocket engines burning fuel so fast
Up into the night sky they blast
Through the universe the engines whine
Could it be the end of man and time?

Back on earth the flame of life burns low
Everywhere is misery and woe
Pollution kills the air, the land and sea
Man prepares to meet his destiny, yeah

Rocket engines burning fuel so fast
Up into the black sky so vast
Burning metal through the atmosphere
Earth remains in worry, hate and fear

With the hateful battles raging on
Rockets flying to the glowing sun
Through the empires of eternal void
Freedom from the final suicide

Freedom fighters sent out to the sun
Escape from brainwashed minds and pollution
Leave the earth to all its sin and hate
Find another world where freedom waits, yeah

Past the stars in fields of ancient void
Through the shields of darkness where they find
Love upon a land a world unknown
Where the sons of freedom make their home

Leave the earth to Satan and his slaves
Leave them to their future in the grave
Make a home where love is there to stay
Peace and happiness in everyday

Followed by...

To cheer me up in the irradiated wasteland.

I love this thread! Somewhere, I have a small iPod with just one playlist, entitled "The End" - need to find it, add some of these, and stick it in my bug-out-bag.

Now let's see if I can successfully YT on mobile...the Virtuosity soundtrack version is best, I don't think this is it.

'The Stand' by The Alarm

Come roll out the red carpet come bugler sound the horn
The hero is returning gotta welcome him to his home
Don't say I didn't warn you, this prophecy's coming true
The cavalry is thundering riding over the hill
Riding over the hill
Come on down and meet your maker
Come on down and make the stand
Come on down, come on down
Come on
And make the stand!

Showdown at Big Sky
Darkness at high noon
Showdown at Big Sky
That day may be soon
And people, people
Can you hear the sound
From every village and every town
Let the bells ring out

You're far away
If you can't see my face
If the world is cold
But the sun shines the same
Shut your eyes
There are bluer skies
For your embrace to my heart
Goodbye shadows
Goodbye shadows

OK, I'll add a few that are a bit more serious.

I guess I do like me a little Breaking Bejamin ...

And I can't believe no one has chipped in with this:

It's classic for the topic!

Type O Negative had multiple songs from the album World Coming Down that would work. Man I miss the Drab Four. RIP Peter.

AWESOME album.

Of course, most of their non thrash albums are (Bloody Kisses, October Rust, Life is Killing me).

One of my top fave bands. That I never saw live.

When life hands you lemons, make lemonaide.

Immediate star and flag to your OP. I am a self-trained professional in this area. As a listener of doom and gloom music. I also know a continuation to your phrase "When life hands you lemons, then life better hand you some sugar too, or your lemonade is going to be awful"

Here is just recently uploaded new music from Swedish progressive doom metal/rock band called Katatonia. Their new studio album "City burials" is released in the near future and my level on anticipation is through the roof!

Always awesome to talk to another TON fan.

I think overall I saw them live 7 times including both of the legendary Philadelphia Halloween shows with all the toilet paper. Yah, look that up on YouTube was out of control.

The best for me though was I saw them in NYC twice and their was just something about seeing them in their home city that worked for me.
