Disease X is a placeholder name adopted by the World Health Organization (WHO) for any new unknown pathogen that may cause disease and potentially an epidemic in the future.

It was added to the list of Blueprint priority diseases as a knowable unknown by the WHO on 7 February 2018. The purpose of the placeholder is to acknowledge the potential for a new epidemic caused by an unknown pathogen and to prepare in advance for the R&D response. The WHO's establishment of the term in February 2018 sparked media panic and speculation as to which diseases could qualify as "disease X", despite the fact that the WHO established the term as a concept not referring to any one particular disease. Mainstream media speculation included the idea that it could be created intentionally as a biological weapon. However, it is most likely to arise as a zoonotic infection.

This is not about the Wu-Flu. Even though the novel coronavirus outbreak has been called "disease X" by some.

Some believe coronavirus is Disease X, but the real answer could lie in East Africa.

"Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever" leaves people bleeding from their eyes, mouth, and anus.

The gruesome sickness, informally dubbed "bleeding eye fever", has a higher mortality rate than the plague and has mystified medical professionals for the past couple of years.

'Disease X' feared to have hit Ethiopia as dying villagers 'bleed from eyes'

In 2018 dozens were infected and at least four died in Uganda and South Sudan.

Now Ethiopia has reported a 23-year-old victim of the horrible disease.

23-year-old Khadar Abdi Abdullahi’s eyes began turning yellow. Then the palms of his hands did the same. Soon he was bleeding from his nose, and from his mouth, and his body was swelling all over. Eventually he collapsed with fever. He later died.

A deadly sickness is spreading through villages near a Chinese natural gas project in Ethiopia’s Somali region, according to locals and officials who spoke to the Guardian. Many of Khadar’s neighbours have suffered the same symptoms. Like him, some died.

The mystery sickness bringing death and dismay to eastern Ethiopia

We should be happy the soon to be world pandemic is only the Wu-Flu.

Are viruses the new Bogeyman? It's supposed to be aliens next, looks like someone slipped in viruses to be the next Bogeyman.

The flu is related to 300,000 to 500,000 deaths each year. But why do you care now?

I have always cared.

I feel something more is going on now though.

Look at what is happening, not what is being said. Countless stories of actions taken that have never been taken before.

Does that not tell you this is more than just the flu?

It’s called we need to get off this planet and explore space. It’s only going to get worse as cities grow more congested. And if more checks and balances are not added to air travel.

You are preaching to the choir, my brother.

This is from my depressing new years OP.

Just a look at one of the many things we have in this existence that could wipe out human civilization on this world, in very short order. Plenty of doom porn here, from the macro to the micro everything is out to get us. What can the human race possibly do to avoid being erased from the cosmos?

Whats with the yellow eyes, and nose and mouth bleeding? These are not normal coronavirus symptoms. I know how kidney failure works but how is this related to the virus? Makes me think he had something else already going on cuz those are more like Ebola symptoms.

In the Op I made it clear:

This is not about the Wu-Flu.

It is about Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever.

The thread kinda went sideways, so I understand your confusion.

Thanks for posting.

My mistake. I have associated disease x with coronavirus since coronavirus became a topic. My mind plays tricks when I read these things sometimes cuz even when i see "wuhan flu" i immediately dismiss the flu part since coronavirus is not influenza. The whole topic is convoluted with misnomers and misinformation so its becoming difficult to follow. Bottom line, you are right. I read this incorrectly in a cursory review.

It's not Kidney failure that turns the skin yellow, its Liver failure.

Have some experience of said condition.
